Six spanks ar $5 a spank, amounting to

lor of Georgetown was ordered to pay by
the Judge of the municipal court at Bath,
Me.
The spanks In question were administered
to Innocent 6-year-old Vivian Beal, the
child of a neighbor, and were In the form
of punishment to the little girl because
she ahoo'd some hei.s belonging to Mrs.
Taylor. The woman has appealed the de
cision, claiming that the bill is too high,
and has recognised for her appearance at
the approaching term of the superior court.

Five dollars a spank is pretty costly, and
to make the matter worse the children
have formed a protective league, threaten
ing their fond mothers and fathers that
they will engage counsel and push all
rases In which, any one of them receives

Vivian. "I am -glad the naughty woman
had to pay for It, but it don't do me any
