CHICAGO. Nov. 23 -8elling of December

December option closing at a net losa of
Vjc Corn was unchanged. Oats were V,

Early In the day pit traders bought wheat
because of the comparatively firm tone
of the Liverpool cables and the continued
sma.ll receipts at Minneapolis and Du)uth.
The market for a time waa firm, but offer
ings wera not large and trading soon negan
trig. The principal aemana waa ror
ip May option, which waa wanted by com-
mis-Ion bouses. Toward the middle 0 the
dnv local hears commenced to sell Decem
ber and the price of that delivery was
prised off. . News received during the day
was about equally favorable to bulls and
bears. Weather tn the United Btatoa wss
much better for the crop movement . and
Argentina shipments for the week were
larger than had been previously estimated.
On the other hand, tha demandfor cash
wheat at MlnneapoSia waa a rain urgent,
and export of wheat and flour frosn thla
country for the week were larger than
for the eorreapondlng week last year. The
selling of December continued until the
close, which was easy, with prices a trifle
lower than the final ouotatlons of yester-

Trading In the corn pit was extremely
quiet, but the market was firm for the
nroater part of the day. Commission houses
were fair bidders for May delivery, and thla

NETv TORIC, Nov. 23. The unsettled
and Irregular tone of the stock market
continued In evidence today. The uncer
tainty of the j.rlce movement dlscoursged
operation's and the consequence was a
dull and sagging tendency. As Is usual
In a neglected market, there was enough
selling by tired holders to cause an un
dertone of depression. The downward
movement was neither universal or
marked. There were strong spots in the
list, but they were, for the most psrt,
AmonffSt the Ismiea whiu mnvmnt, mr
the least Influential on the general tone 1
or me speculation. Nearly all the stocks
which moved vigorously were selling at
low prices in the market, many of them
not paying dividends.

Not all of tha movements of today had
any explanation announced for them.
Ptocks of Independent iron and steel com

large profits resulting from the urgent
demand of prompt delivery on all grades
of lion products. There waa a story of
Hill buying of Missouri, Kansas & Texas
to account for the rise in these stocks,
said to be for a strategical move s gainst
the Harrlman control of Illinois Central.
Of the stocks of most prominence, St.
Paul wss the only one to be notably
strong at any time. Tha evidence of
realizing In Vnlon Paclflo was of more
effect on sentiment. The only explana
tion offered for it was the assertion that
the forthcoming annual report of the
company would prove only a routlno offi
cial dooument, rather than a brilliant ex-
fonent of the road's future, as the specu
ators hare been contending for some
time. The heaviness of Union Paclfto had
an additional Influence from the fact that
the decline In Standard Oil shares on the
curb market was resumed, the price yield
ing at one time to 600. Supporters of
stocks had to contest also with the effect
of the further realizing In Great Northern
preferred and the fall In tha price of the
ore certificates which were dealt In on
the curb when Issued.

CATTLE There was, a usual on Fri
day, a small run of cattl and the total
for the week to date show a considerable
laiiimx on aa compared with laat week.
Tho market as a whole today did not show
. any noteworthy change.
Keer steer of decent quality sold quite
readily at good,-steady prices, there being
som corn-feds here good enough to bring
86.25. Practically everything that would do
to kill wag sold In very fair season In the
morning.
Cows and heifers also sold at steady
prices, and while buyers did not appeur
especially eager, still , there was a fair
movement and about everything In sight
changed hands by 10 O'clock in the morn
ing or soon after.
As usuiil toward the last of the week.
feeders were a tittle slow, and still buyers
evidently had use for the good kinds, which
J sold In practically the same notches aa
yesterday. Some or the trash, odds and
ends, etc., which has been hanging around
the yards, were a little hard to move.
