Asalataat Coaeh Cornea to Nebraska to
Get Some Pointer.
Nebraska looters who are sorely disap
pointed over the outcome of Saturday s
game with Kansas will get some satis
faction out of the opinion of Assistant
Coach 8i.-lk of Chicago university, who
was In Lincoln to get somo pointer on the
Nebraska style of piay for use In the game
next baturday.
"I am suia Nebraska Is a better team
than Kansas." he is quoted as saying.
"I ho Nebraska pluyers evidently thought
they were going to have a wuikaway. and
they started out overconfident. They didn't
seem to realize thev would have to hustle
until Kansas had scored twice. They will
piay a far better game next Saturday.
"The fact that Cooke, the Nebiaska
quarter back, was kept lu the game alter
tils Injury spoiled things for Nebraska. Hn
apparently was hurt badly, and got mixed
up."
This opinion Is shared by many foot ball
experts who witnessed the. game. Con
versation with players and rooters at
Uncoln hows without n shadow of doubt
thai nearly everyone was overconfident. It
was expected that Nebraska would carry
tho Jaynawknra off their feel and fairly
overwhelm them. Tho play In th tlrst few
minutes of the game showed thai the Ne
brafkans were taken by surprise. After
Ihey had recovered from the first shock
ihey got down to business, but Kmifas had
lis eight points. After this Nebraska
play, -a tho belter game and earned a
touchdown by straight foot bull. Cooke's
two breaks In th second half onca when
ne signalled for n forward pass on first ,
down within a few yards of Kanaas goal
und threw the ball Into the arms of a Jay- !
..awkr and again when within u. few yards
of a touchdown and on the second down
with less than a yard to gain ho called fur
s drop kick which was blocked, art- gen
erally attributed to the fact he was out of
his head from an Injury in the tlrst half
and some criticism lias been paaeed on the
management lot not taking him oul at the ,
game. 1
t hltagii has boldly announced Its intention

son with another whirlwind victory tnat
will give the Maroons more than doubi

that Michigan has earned. Chicago, now
has l:t7 points to Ita credit while Michigan
hag only 71. Btagg will run up against a
hard proportion if he tries to smother the
Cornhukers. The latter huvt i been playing
a peculiar game this ear. The first aet
fxick ranie when Ames wrung a victory
from them at Lincoln. Then the team took
a mighty brace and held Minnesota down
to 13 points. This tended to mas! the
players overconfident and hence the Kannas
defeat. Now with the difgiace of. Ihe
slump last Saturday to wipe out me n-arlet
and cream rooters expect to see the team
take another l,ra,-e and tight hard for a
vindication from the Maroons.
