The suit against Joseph Crow, former
postmaster of Omaha, and his sureties on
his bond of $140,000 as postmaster growing
out of the defalcation of Albert Olson has
been dismissed and Mr. Crow Is ahead 62
cents on the transaction. '
Olson wa a clerk in the stamp depart
ment of the Omaha office and was found
short $2,132.12. He was arrested. Indicted,
confessed and sentenced on January 14,
1904, to pay a fine pf $2,000, which was paid
for him by certain friends. Th bonding
company In which Olson was bonded paid t
th government $1,000. the amount of the j
bond, which left a balance of the whole .
amount to be paid by Postmaster Crow
or $1,028.97, the remainder having been re
imbursed to the government by Olson and
his friends and the surety compsny, ' Mr.
Crow at once appealed to congress to be
reimbursed the amount of the shortage for
which he was still responsible, which was
granted by bill No. 1537, dated April 21.

$1.029 69 for that purpose. Of this amount
the sum of 11,028.97 has been turned Into
the treasury to credit on the shortage and
