It I believed, of Indulging In an overdose of dope. At 1 o'clock he rushed Into the Kiel hotel much excited and called up police headquartera over the telephone. To Sergeant O'Neill, who answered, Pat te( told a weird story of having seen a man ground to pieces beneath the wheela of a Rock Illand train. He said h waa tending but a few feet from the track when the train struck the man and killed him. Securing a lantern, a he said, Pat tee told the eergeant that he had spent an hour searching In the weed and tall rrsss along the track for the man' body without success. Pattee war taken to police headquartera, where for an hour he told a number of other equally weird stories. He claimed to have driven to Council Bluffs from Atlantic and had gone to th railroad crossing to catch a train for home when he witnessed the killing of the man. He alio said he had been working In the harveat fields In Dakota and had driven to Council Bluff from Watertown, S. D.
