DEB MOINES, Aug. 17.-Omaha won the
first game of the season In Des Moines to
4ay by a score of 1 to 0. Des Moines took
the second game of the double-header, 8 to
r. The first-game was a great exhibition
of base bull. Omaha's In field, and espe
cially the veteran Long, was practically a
tone wall and the Champions were unable
to hit through It when hits were neces
sary, besides ganders pitched well. Omaha's
one score came on Perrlng's two-sacker
and an error. The second game was filled
with hits and errors and the Champs base
running gare them the advantage and the
game. Perrlng of Omaha was a star per
former both la the field and at bat. His
home run In the sixth Inning of the second
