Se'tirm 1. That at the a-erieral election
(or slate and legislative ofheers to be held
on the Tuesday succeeding the nrsl Mon-
oay in November, 1M, t tie following pro
vision be proposed and submitted to the
electors of the state as an amendment to
the constitution.
Section i. There shall be a state Railway
commission, consisting of three members,
who shall bj nrsl elected at. the gneral
election. In 19J, whoee telma of omce. ex
cept those choren at the rtrst election under
thla provision, shaH be alx years, and whose
comuujuation anall be fixed by tne legisla
ture.
Of the three Commissioners Rrn elected,
he one receiving th highest numler of

such amendment,' the same shall be deemed
to bo adopted.

her return from Missouri Valley Tueeday,
failed to put In kn appearance In court yes
terday when the girl's rase was railed for
a hearing before- Judge Wheeler. In his
Information Taylor had charged the girl
with Incorrigibility and she, after her ar
rest and return to this city, made serious
charges against' her father.
The. hearing wa held by Judge Wheeler
behind eksed doors In his chamber, those
present being Delia Tsylor bcr mother,
elder slater and County Attorney Hess.
Beyond the fact that Mrs. Tsylor and her
twto daughters had been put through a
searching examination' and that the case
had been continued for "thirty days or
less" County Attorney Hess declined to
give any further Information. Pending th
determination f the case the girl has been
placed lr .th custody of her mother, as
she expressed a willingness to return home.
People In Missouri Valley are much In
terested In the, case, and .two women from
that city who declared their intention of
seeing the truh revealed and th young
woman done Justice, were in. the court
room ready to testify If Mtlled upon.
It was stated by a relative of Mrs. Tay
lor that she had secured a new home for
herself and two daughters. It was also

escape for the time being by running into

Thb street fair and carnival to be held
the week of September 3 to 8 Is to be opened

club. The affair la to be a foot parade,

to ride in a carriage will , be Mayor Mac

of Leroy-Addison st' Avoca' In September.

der grew out of a quarrel and drinking.
An appeal to the supreme court has also
been taken In the caae of the stat agalnat
Mathlas Baldes bt Sioux county.' who was
