The break today in all gralne wa a mat
tei of liquidation by longs and short sell
ing on the domwllc situation. Price
worked off surprisingly easy, and auch up
port aa ass forthcoming from ahria.
Report from the northwest are hotter
oaiiy. Jnines A. rattan of Chicago figures
that South Dakota will ralae the biggest
crop of wheat, corn, oat and fl on rec
ord. The black mat scare Mmi to be

way from offerings of new wheat. The
firmness In Liverpool waa on the expc'
tion of, lighter world ahlpments, and
mte cable from Broomhall report weather
nne in Russia, with arrival at Odeasa In-
leasing.
Mege from all over the corn belt tell
ot heavier country acceptance, which
means nn Increased movement. Any larger
rccelpta will prove a depressing factor on
me near deliveries. The far month ar
affected by the Improved crop outlook, te-
' ioi ta being generally optimistic. Liquida

The weakness In the wheat market da
e.opeu during the first hour ana during
the remainder -of the session the bulla
, were in full, retreat. A fair demand oy
tininislort house, based upon a steady
'uiarkct at Liverpool, caused some firm
ness Immediately after the opening, but
the situation was Ignored when the esti
mate of the Minneapolis rrop expert be
id me generally known. Tit trailers and
lotai Fongj aold freely and there waa mUih
. sailing o wheat by commission houses on
lop-ioss oroers. The market waa alao
fleeted by liberal receipts here and at
other primary point. Ixx-al recelpta for
Monday were estimated at 802 caaa, which
. waa considered a very liberal supply and
this caused additional weaknea late In
'the day. Shorts were the chief buyers.
'1 he market cloaed very weak with prices
. almost, at the lowest point. Heptcmner
opened Vc to So higher at 77c to 18a
sold up to 786ti8c and then declined to

Clearance of wheat and flour were equal
to 121.800 bushels. Primary receipts were

fot the corresponding time last yeAv
ailnneapolia, Duluth and Chicago reported
receipt of (14 car against 624 last weea
and 214 a year ago.
The corn market was steady for a few
minute early In the day, but the sharp
break In wheat, excellent weather ana
increased country offerings caused a ron
alderable decline. The close waa weak
with rrlcea near th lowest point. Sep
tember opened 4s44c lower at HtrHc
higher at 4c to i0k-c. sold off to 44?
and closed at 48 c. local receipt were
. 178 cars, with 78 cars of contract grafle.
. oats were weak In sympathy with other
gram and also because of reports from
the northwest Indicating a heavy yield.
The volume of trade was not large. tep
tember opened unchanged to Uc higher
at 81c to Si'ic, aold up to 388SHc and
declined to 32c. The close was at 33 Sc.
Local receipts weru 103 cars.
' Provisions were inclined to he weak In
sympathy with grain and because of a 6c
decline In the price of live hogs.' Trad-

CATTLE There were no cattle of anv
consequence In the yards, there being the
usual Saturday holiday so far a the
cattle market wa concerned. For the
week the receipt how a Blight falling
off a compared with the previous week
ana a somewnat large decrease a com
pared with a year ago. - A usual at this
sesson of the year a good many load of
rignt gooa rorn-rea steers nave been re
ceiveo. While there has also been
sprinkling of western ranger, thus far,
however, there have not been sufficient
range cattie to really establish quotations
on mat Kina, tne supply 01 beet consist
ing almost entirely ot corn-ted stock
The tendency of the market on all de
slrable fat cattle was steadily upward
uuring tne nrst iour nay or tne week.
Each day market waa auoted fullv
teady or a little stronger with the trade
sufficiently active to affect an early clear
ante on most days. On Friday the situa
tion was somewhat different, the receipt
of that day being of poor quality, In
otner woras, tne Kina mat buyer do not
care tor. A a result Friday market
wa Blow with prices a little easier. Aftei
allowing for the weakness of that dav.
however, the market on all good kinds
of corn-fed steers is IO&I60 higher than
one week ago. Full load of cattle have
sold as high as 38.25, which i the high
est price paid on this market slnca 1
year ago last May, barring only one
ouncn 01 cnristma ueevea, wnicn brougn

Cows and heifer, like beef steers,

til Friday, when they. too. were alow
The trade on the good kind a a rule
wa active, so that the market through'
out the week wa In a good healthy con
dltion. As the close It is safe to quote
price anywhere from 10(&20c higher than
one week ago, but with the advance the
most pronounced on tne better aradea.
The dull season is still on In the stocker
and feeder trade, not many cattle of that
description arriving and not many wanted
It is still too early to expect very much
trading in mat department or the market,
SHU Hi few cattle that have come for
ward have met with fair sale and Drlc
hav been well maintained. If anything
the market 1 a trifle stronger for the
week, but that I not any Indication of
the demand being particularly strong, fo
a matter of fact speculator and vsrd
trader still complain of very little In'
quiry irom tne country.
HUUS ine nog inaraet asiumed a more
active appearance this morning. Yee
terday and In fact the day before It wa
extremely slow ana auu, but thl morn
lng buyers acted more as if thev neede
supplies and the trade opened much earlle
In the morning. It was fairly active sn,
the big bulk of all the hogs changed
nanas in very gooa season, as to price
the market might be quoted as stead'
with yesterday's later market, or a shad'
lower than yesterdays averaae. 1 .11,
hogs sold very largely at 6.46f6 47H

factory lit mat buyers nave been actin

iered that the high point of the year was
reached on Wednesday of last week and !
buyers have been pounding values ever
since that day with the result that t.i-

CIIAltLES DANA GIBSON, the man who has made
himself rich in' a few years with his pen, has won his placro
by strict perseverance. His growth was gradual up to a
CERTAIN POINT, and then he suddenly became famous.
"Life" discovered his GREATNESS and for years he
.worked only for that publication, until his fame became
uch that many of the reproductions of his work sold for
framing for as high as three dollars each. About four years
ago, Collier's Weekly made a contract for ALL OF HIS
NEW WORK, and Gibson's fame became an assured fact.
It is the best selection from the DOUBLE PAGE
CARTOONS DRAWN BY GIBSON, at this time, at the
pinnacle of his greatness which are being issued now each
week by The Sunday Bee. THESE PICTURES REPRE
SENT THE GREATEST WORKS OF THE GREATEST
ARTIST in black and white. His last pen and ink work has
been done, for he has given up an income of $60,000 a year
to take up studies in color, and he is now abroad engaged
in that work. The public will watch his new departure
with the greatest of interest to see if he will even EQUAL
the old work in his new field. In his former field, he stood
ALONE, superior to all others. Formerly these pictures
were only for the few who could afford to pay high prices
for them.
NOW THERE IS A NEW DEVELOPMENT in the
Gibson picture situation. The pictures that graced the
palace and tbe mansion can now be secured for the cottage
and the mod est home.

THE SUNDAY BEE is now issuing a series of thera,
like the above. The first picture issued caused people to
SIT UP AND TAKE NOTICE. Last Sunday's was the
talk of the town. Bear in mind that the picture reproduced
above is printed Yipon a separate sheet of fine art paper,
with a tinted background, of a size suitable for an easel
portfolio, or for framing if you desire.
Nothing extra is charged for the picture. You get the
GREAT OMAHA SUNDAY BEE AND WITH IT THE
ART SUPPLEMENT, together with a descriptive article
in the earns issue, the picture completing the scheme.
There is absolutely no extra charge.
The newsdealers could not supply all the orders for the
last if sue because . orders were not received in advance.
Better tell your newsdealer about it if you want a fine
Gibson picture next Sunday.
The next picture, shown here in miniature, is one of
his most famous pieces of work-A CASTLE IN THE ALi ,
A story in pen drawing, that will appeal to every heart.
No need of a description to give its meaning. It is a living
lesson of "What is" and "What might have been."
