Making;' Three Fla a, Double Pleis Bat am Error. Bill Morrison, tn his first name In an Omaha uniform, failed to. demonstrate that he vai altogether Indispensable to tha pennant winning aspiration of any club. In fact William didn't establish any precedent at Vinton Hi reel park yes terdar which would entail an Impossible effort on the part of any of hi team mate on the. alah. Nor did Mr. Morrlaon do that which might tend to make Helee pinch himself for letting go of the om e famoua De Molne pitcher who. last on, tu one of the Jonah to Omaha bat ter. When Frank Selee' - Indian per ceived that It wa their playmate of yes terday In the box they amlied. picked up thalr bat and went at him and when they came back they had seventeen hit and even run to their credit, which wa enouaTh to win the game, for Omaha had, meanwhile, got but eight hit and two runs eft Minor. And Pa 1 (till any on pitcher. Minor, aald from pitching ball that mi too good for Omaha to win off of. joined In the watfet on hi old team mate and batted out a home run. It wa bang, bang, bang from tart to finish and bad not Omaha put up superb work behind Mr. Morrison thing might even have looked worts for him. 6ele aald hi team had to win game and it I doing It. Since It started In to ' play ball none In the league ha been do ing more consistent work. Had It started Anything like a well as it Is going now It place in the standing would not.be sixth. Tare Faat Doable Plays. ; Omaha made three faat double play and the only error was, a dropped fly by Howard, who had run back for It. How ard was the only Omaha player who could hit Minor at the right time. The game started welt enough and It looked as If the Rourkes would have a walkaway. .After McOilvray. had walked ' In the first, a neat double retired the aide and; Omaha came to. bat. Three hit In succession were made and It looked as If Minor was going up after Ayer In a balloon, but he settled down and all Omaha got was one lonely run. Carter hit safe as did Howard, when Perrlng came along with a bunt which brought Carter home with na one out. Welch sacrificed them each on a base and Bassey hit to Shugart, who caught Howard at the plate. Dolan struck out .and Pa's chancea of winning the game In the first Inning were gone. Pueblo started In the second just a Omaha had in the first. The first three men up hit safely, but none scored on the hit. Fluke flew out to Carter and Melcholr cored on the throw when Bader hit to Howard, who, with the aid of Runkle and Dolan. made a double. Omaha did not score again until the ninth,' for Minor had settled down and held them safe at all time, but three hits being made from the first to the ninth and no two of these In one inning. ' Tha tale of - the Pueblo runs would be imply the story of successful hitting. In the eighth Bader hit for a single, when Minor hit a ball which cleared the fence Just inside tha foul line in left field. Omaha made one ' of Its regular ninth - inning rallies, but it was too late, the Tuebs had too big- a lead. Runkle fl Iw out to Flake with a line ball and Gondlng reached first when, he drove the ball too hard for Elwert to handle. Morrison hit safely and Carter batted the ball to the pitcher, who threw to third In time to catch Gondlng and Just missed out on a double to first. Howard hit to first and in the sorambls was safe, while Morrison scored. Perrlng tried hard enough, but the . ball went to Cook and the game wa over. Many game were played In the city ten nis championship tournament at the Field club Saturday afternoon and some were filled with Interest. The consolations were started, and the doubles as well as them will be played off as fast as possible next week, so the director expect to get down to the final in doubles by the middle of the week. Rain has Interfered with the tournament considerably and very few games have been played during the week, although the championship in single has reached the semi-finals. All interest seemed to center in the match between the old foe.men, Scrlbner and Cald well, who hav met several times before In tournament, with Scrlbner coming out winner of late, aa he did yesterday. Cald well won the first set, 4-1, with the points 24 to 26. Caldwell played at tha net all the time, but Scrlbner equalised thla by splendid back-hand drives. Bcrlbner took the agresslva Ib the) second et and passed Caldwell . quite frequently, winning the set, 0-2, tha scores being 31 and 20. Tha third set proved a long one and looked at first to be Scrlbner', but when the score was 4-1 Caldwell braced and took the next two. The seventh game wa a long one, requiring 24 points, and wa won by Scrlbner. On the ninth game, with the score 6-S, Scrlbner was twice within one point of the game and match, but Caldwell braced and by calm playing made two beautiful passes to duece and the game. Caldwell took . tha next two games, with the loss of but one point, mak ing the score 8-5. Game See-Saws Amid Cheers. The game see-sawed, with the large gal lery cheering every point won and lost, and some magnificent tennis was played. Scrihner finally won the. nineteenth and twentieth games, making the score ll-. The total point for the last set were 76-75. The Collett-Hughes match was also inter esting and looked, for- a time as If .the end would be different than ft wa. Collett had Hughe 6-2 In' the first set, and when the game was 6-3,' with Collett wN thin one point of the game, Hughes ' braced and finally won out. The deciding game of the Potter-Scrlbner match waa also well contented, and Potter, who has had little chance. to practice this spring, surprised all with his superb game. He passes quickly and makes clean strokes at the net and with practice would make one of the most formidable applicants for city championship honors. The wise ones who sit and watch the game from the gallery and porch of the Field club are now picking Scrlbner as winner of the tournament, which will give him the title of city champion, a Conrad Young, holder of the title at present, will not defend.
