Since being moved to th second loor ot
the city hall Fire Chief Salter has ba
advised by friends to hav a brass pol
placed to the second floor so thst he and
Assistant Chief Simpson might make a
mora precipitate exit when responding to
alarms. As It is now ths fire chiefs have to
go down the winding stsirway if the ele
vator is not handy.
Chief Salter has taken kindly to th
brass pol. ides, but hs thinks th pol
should b extended to the roof, so that all
officials could use it If they wished. It wag
