Wheat wa very quiet and fluctuations were small, though tha undertone n a. i una; and price were up a fraction a gieai.r part of tne day. Ynen the govern mem report came at 1 o'clock It waa con sidered bearish and prices broke, closing "4c below yesterday. The trade waa in clined to await the report and shorts were inclined to take profits. Weather and crop newa were again beartsn, many re ports coming ironi the nortnweat telling of improved condition of wheat. Acceptances from first hands continue large in the south went. Only one or two firms report any considerable acceptances in Nebraska. Receipts were liberal. The tovernment figures gave K.I for winter wheat condition and 11.4 for spring wueat munition. Opening corn prices were a shade higher, tin the market remained strong In the first hour. Reports of rains In Kansas and Oklahoma started a little selling and prices yielded a fraction, though trade waa light. Uncertainty aa to what government figures would be kept a good many out of the market. The government report gave the condition of corn at 87.6 and the acreage at W.U0,nra. This was considered bearish by the Omaha traders. Primary wheat receipts were 666,000 bush els and shipments 6-,0i0 bushels, against receipts last year of 465.000 bushels and shipments of 272,tiO bushels. Corn receipts were 643.000 bushels and shipments 864,000 bushels, against receipts last year of 740, JO bushels and shipments of 348,000 buabels. Clearance were 2.000 barrela flour, 338 bushels corn and 1,560 bushela oats. Liverpool closed WHd lower on wheat and A lower to Hd higher on corn. Crop Expert Snow wired from the north west: "Spring wheat situation le open question, with weather this month the de ciding factor. Crop In valley- Is poor, beyond recovery, and la below average on fottora lands. On .high end on the sandy snds it is better, a few districts going above average. Aa a rule stand Is below average and plant lacks usual vigor. Wet weather to July 1 gave poor roots and leavea of crop yellow where water stood. Rust not a factor at present With nor mal weather crop of the three states will .' about equal last year's. Recurrence of too much rain or ahort period of moderate heat and drought will cause quick deterior ation." Unocal range of options: SEW YORK GENERAL MARKET Qaotatloaa of the Day Varloas Commodities. July 10 The stock market lapsed Into a condition of extreme lethargy touay. the shrinkage from yesterday's vol ume being In about tha proportion of yes terdays shrinkage from last week s av erage. Complete stagnation prevailed lor long Intervals In the trading. Tranaactlons up to noon, which is the period In which most or the day s business is usuauy aone, were less than 16o.ono shares. Traders gav up attempta to contest the dullness anl found no profit in Insignificant interchanges amongst themselves there wss some effort to attribute the unwillingness to trade to the desire to await the appearance of the government crop report. But the som nolent state waa a proper augury of any coming activity. The actual appearance of the report failed entirely to relieve the mar ket, although Its showing was fully up to anticipations, which had been very sanguine. esterday's crop of rumors of railroad loana secured in Psrls was pretty conclu sively disposed of by denials from various interested quarters. That there have been negotiatlona In progreae by aome of the American rallroade to secure loans In Parts, however, admits of little doubt from the sources of yesterdsy'a reporta on the sub ject. Much, attention was attracted by the abstract sent out from Washington of the condition of national banks, as of June 18, and Its atriking showing of the continued heavy demand for credits. Compared with the prevlotia call on April , there has been an Increase of I77.406.7&3 In individual de posits, accompanying an expansion of 130, 738.737 In cash reserves with a growth In the loan Item in the same time of ilS,0. Buyers were claiming that the quality on an average was not quite as good aa It has been on a rood many days. Considering the larger receipts the mar ket on beef steers was In fair condition so far as the better grades were concerned. That la, buyers seemed to want well-finished beef steers and as a rule sellers of such figured that they secured about the same prices as yesterday, on the other hand there were a good many medium kinds of cattle In the yarda and sellers showed a disposition to discriminate against them to auch an extent that they would have to be quoted as alow to lower. Among the offerings were several cars of Wyoming grangers wnich sold to a packer at 14.60. The cow market continues In an unsatis factory condition. The supply of fed cows and heifers Is pretty much axhausted, so that the recelpta of the stuff consist en tlrelv of grassera. Aa usual at this season of the year the meraet begins breaking as soon aa grass stuff becomes plentiful, and there have been few daya during the laat week when coas did not sell lower. Today was no exception to the rule, the msrket being generally reported as slow to lower, Jut how much lower It Is no easy matter to say for the reason thst It la a good deal of a catch-as-catrh-can market. There la nothing new In regard to the feeder trade, both supply and demand being light as usual in July. ilepresentative salea: BEEF STEERS. 48... .... 47.... 14... 77 44 ... 71 214 . 4.. 71 44. 4. There were liberal receipts. the buyers v. ere all out early and the ofTer Ins were picked ud rapidly. It only took a glance to determine the fact that the market had settled down to Its normal basis and that It had struck its usual gait Buyers were all apparently warning de sirable killers and oficrlngs of such were Bold very early In the morning, In fact by t o'clock there waa nothing of Importnn left aside from a few scattering bunches of plain stuff. The prices paid ranged all the way from steady to 10c higher. It la hardly necessary with the market active and steady to 10c higher to add that the trade ae a whole was In a very satisfactory condition.
