CROPS ALONG THE BURLINGTON
Conditions Above (he Average,
Thoaah Urawbarka Exlet
Here aad There. '
The crop and soil report of the Wyoming
district of the Burlington road for the week
ending July 7 shows the winter wheat on
the Alliance division ready for harvest and
the spring wheat looking well. Oats on
this division have made favorable rrogress
during the last week. Corn has been doing
nicely, although the weather was a little
cool. Potatoes are being marketed and the
crop Is of good quality. Grasses and
ranges are good.
On the Sherldnn division the wheat is be
ginning to head and prospects are good for
a heavy yield. Oats have been a rowing
fast, have good stand and prospects for a
good yield. The potato crop Is large and
In fine condition. Meadows and pastures
are In good condition, although they ar
beginning to cure. Light rainfall during
the last week and the soil Is still In good
condition.
Wheat Is now being harvested on the
east end of the Sterling division and aeems
to be well filled and of a good quality, but
as a general thing Is very light on the
ground and will only make about 60 per
cent of a crop. There Is a larger acreage
than last year and farmers expect better
averages per acre.
Oats have been making good progress,
but need moisture on the east end of the
division. From Curtis east the corn Is do
ing nicely, considering the small amount
of rain. From Curtis west It Is a little
backward because of cool weather. Pota
toes are doing nicely and a good crop Is
expected. Both the first and second plant.
Ing of beets are growing fine and with fa
vorable weather will make much better
crops than last year. Pasture Is In good
shape considering the small amount ef rain.
Both tame and wild grasses are making an
average showing.
RECEIPTS AT FIELD CLUB
Thirty Thoaaand Dollars Paaaes
Through Haads ( Treaaarer
la a Year.
Outsiders, and In fact many 1 of the
members of the Field club wh6 have
never had a place on the finance commit
tee, have no Idea of the amount of money
which passes each ' year through the
treasury of the club. Perhaps they would
be astonished If told that the annual re
ceipts were about 130,000, but such is
the case. About $14,000 is received each
year In dues and fees, and the receipts of
cafe and bowling alley are something rtke
16,000 annually. One of the big days.
was the Saturday before the Fourth
July, when 1490 was' taken In at the ea
and the bowling alleys.
The club Is not run as a money-making
proposition, of course, and when expenses
are paid there Is but little of the $30,000
left at the end of the season. The cafe
Is calculated to pay expenses and no more,
and, owing to the large number of
waiters employed and the good meals
served, that la about all it does.

NO. 353-WHKiiE LINEN AND BILK
ARE COMBINED.
The popularity of the separate waist ren
ders the fancy collar and belt prominent
features of the costume. Never before
have the accessories been so attractive as
now, and those made at home by the In
genious woman are the beet. Here are
belt and collar of unique and charming de
sign. White linen and a dark blue taffeta
composed them, the linen forming the top
portion of the collar and the under part
of the body. The Idea Is not only attrac
tlve and new, but very practical, as the
part of each which Is subject to most soil
and wear la the washable part. These are
easily made by snyone at borne and need
only unbuttoning to separate silk from
linen. French knots adorn the edge of the
silk tabs on the collar and three small
buttons finish the back of the belt. Pongos
ss well as a variety of combinations might
be used for these ti go with any costume.
T;. '-eights .d of silk and the same of

two.
