Arthur M. Edwards, commissary
at Fort Hi ley. has been designated as chief
commissary of the provisional division
which is to lie, mobilised here during the
months of August Hnd September. He has
requested that five post commissary ser
geants be detailed for. duty at the camp
during the maneuvers. A large tent will be
used as a sales commissary, and this insti
tution will supply all articles required by
the troops, the post exi haugu not being al
lowed to conduct a store on the rnuiieuvir
grounds.
Plans are being formulated for a school of
equitation and horse training for noncom
missioned ofllcers, to be conducted In con
nection with the school of application for
cavalry and field artillery at this post. It
Is proposed t have twenty-twn noncommis
sioned officers detached from their organi
zations throughout the service and aent
here to enter the school on April 1, lH07,td

Brigadier General William H. Carter,

Two hundred copies of the new book,
"The Army Horse In Accident and Dis
ease," were received Thursday from the
government printing office. This book was
written by the Instructors In hlppology fit
Fort Riley for use as a textbook for offi
cers and for enlisted men In the training
school for farriers and horseshoers.
The members of the Kansas militia who
were encamped on the target range last
week completed their Vcompetltlons Saturduy
and left for their homes. From among them
eighteen were selected to represent the
