With the exception of moderate firmness i tha nnenina. when commission house and local bulla war fair buyers, tha wheat market waa weak all day. Tha firmness at the opening waa due to the fact that the world' shipments were 9,968,000 bush el during the last week, against 11,112,010 bushels for tha preceding week, and the amount of breadstuffs on ocean passage decreased 8.160.UU0 bushels. RESULT OF OPERATIONS MIXED Meveaaeats of ladlrldaal Stack Irregalar by Reason f Slmal tsaesii Sastalnlag Baying and Realising gelling. NEW TORK, June 8 The added breadth of the stock market caused by veftterrisv's accession of soecu lat 1 ve activities waa still in evidence today In the sustained volume of the trading com pared with last week' small dally aver age. The results of the larger operation were, however, somewhat mixed. It was essy to see that some of the principal stocks In yesterdsy s market were being tea out to tana pront on tne nigner ievri. The effect was seen In the holding back of the rrlce of these stocks while othr stock were advancing. as ine convic tion remained general that the market was In the hands or proressionat opera tors, still the success of the profit-taking seemed dependent upon the transfer of homings to new proressionai nanus, wun the sole purpose continued of disposing of stock at a profit to a new set of buy ers. So long as this connaence in tne minds of speculators Is maintained this iirnrpM Is ranable of belna carried on for a prolonged period without extending be- yona tne ranxs or proressionai oprrunn. It Is a recognised fact that such profes sional movements are the Invariable pre liminary of an extended rise In the mar ket, the public refraining without exceo tlon from entsrlna the market In the earlier stages of the advance. It la the hope of an ultimate outcome of this sort with the public demand to carry stocks out of the market, which encourages per sistence in a campaign in tne run recos;. nitlon of Its wholly professional llmfri- tlons. The confidence of the present prores slonal moves In the msrket Is avowedly based on the prospect that money Is In course of accumulation In bank reserves where Its enforced Idleness Is likely to force It Into stocks for employment, in addition, the news from the crops was regarded as satisfactory and as warrant Ing an assumption of prosperous harvests in the event of conditions continuing aa favorable as at the present. Further large transfers of currency through the sub-treasury to New York also continued In force and this I the principal factor relied upon for the eslng or tne locai mnnev market. The fact that the series of holldavs in California expired on Mon day and left commercial affaire to resume their normsi course anaeo 10 ine saiii factlnn caused bv the further relinquish ment of accumulated funds from the Pa cific coast. Foreign exchange aiso reaciea frAm veaterdnv's show of strenath and discount in Lionaon were iowr. 1 nr sterling rate' at Paris. however, fell sharply and some demand for remittance from here to Parts was the consequence, m a i, t n v vm t-i ii.phinM atrnna. Bearing In mind these general consideration for the present speculative attempt In the stock market, the movement of Individual stocks offer little of special Interest. These movements today were irregular throughout, by reason of a series or u' i.inin advances accompanied bv simul' taneou realising at different points. The quality of the offering, however, waa not verv good, rther being a considerable propor tion or very trashy stuff In alght. A usual this late in th season, grassy stuff 1 beginning to put In an appearamv. Among the offering were Home good wether and yearling, the same ss brought 3d 16 yesterday. They were weighed up today at 38.26. Good lamb sold as nigh ss 36.40, with some pretty decent wcoled Mexican lambs at 38 73. These prices et.d all others paid for desirable kinds if kill ers looked fully steady with yes'erdav. The common, trashy stuff was slow an 1 hard to sell, no one that kind. To sum might be said that lambs are In good prices, with common, trashy ano more or less neglected. Quotation on clipped stock aaar a ad Molasses. NEW TORK.
