Baldwin of Council Blaffs Baa Dowa bp Rock Islaa4 Trala. H. D. Baldwin of Council Bluffs' was killed Monday morning by being struck with the engine of Rock Island train No. 41, just beyond the east end of the Union Paclfle bridge. Baldwin was hurled to a pile of rocks fifty feet below the track. He died In a Pullman car on the way to Omaha. Coroner Bralley took charge of the body and notified the Council Bluffs authorities. Baldwin was foreman of a gang ot I'nlon Pacific workmen laying new rails at the east end of the bridge. He had ridden. from the Council Bluffs transfer In a handcar, which was pulled off the track, after which Baldwin stepped off the south track to avoid a passing train, only to step on the north track and be struck by the Rock Island engine.
