Immediately upon the appearanoe of the

Ioes the so-catled pass amendment to

Live Block exchange and patrons of the
South Omaha market may rest assured that

The general meeting of the South Omaha
County club, which was to have been held
this evening at the library hall, has been
postponed for one week on account of the
fact that many of the members of the club
have been Invited to attend a brilliant
social function this evening, so will be
unable to be present. The meeting will
therefore be held In the same place on the
latter date. There will be a meeting of
the directors, however, this afternoon In
the office of Dr. Schlndel. The president
reports that the new club house will be
turned over to the management, completed.
Saturday evening. The golfing links have
been seeded and a fine crop of grass has
been rtarted. The greens have been all
made. For the present year and until
the players of the new club become more
expert only the natural hasards will be
used. In the course of another year an
elaborate system of artificial hazards will
tie erected on the fields.
' The hustling committees hate been
steadily st work and the list of membership
is growing In good shape. At the meeting
Of directors this afternoon their work will
be discussed. The date for the formal
opening will be definitely fixed. For that
occasion and afterward In all probability
the rluh will furnish a regular carryall
for the accommodation of members to assist
them from the end of the Albright car
line to the club grounds. The grade of
the new car line has been nearly completed
and the company Is still working pn the
cut nesr Bellevue. The work of laying

Th. dramatic entertainment given by the

Creighton auditorium, Twenly-flfth and

an unqualified success In every way, the
efforts of those taking part receiving gen
erous applause. The characters In tbe two
one-act plays produced were assumed by
Tress Keys, Anella Gil more, Susan Weaver,
Maude Keys, Daisy Can, Wylma Leech,
Nellie Perry and George Burbank. The
first waa "A Society Eclair," In which three
members Introduced' specialties of a most
pleasing order and handsomely executed.
Nellie Perry was called upon to perform a
Spanish dance, followed by George Bur
bank reading "Ills Wedding Morn" and
"Hepsy at the Stat. Convention;" then
by Tress Keys with th. "Telephone Ro
mance," and an encore, and Anella Gil
more with three original poems entitled
"Take Your Arm From Round My Waist,"
"Co-Bell" and "SonT You Washed?" Each
of the numbers waa . highly entertaining
and fully merited the rounds of applause
given each. It would hardly be fair to
particularly mention any certain act aa
being well done, for there was a great deal
of ability evident In the work of each per
former. The program for the evening closed with
the comedy. "Which Shall I Have?" par

LETTER CARRIERS OWN A DOG

"Purp Owned by Omaha Letter Car
riers." This is th. Inscription of a sliver
plat, that ornaments handsome new dog
collar that surrounds the neck of a com
mon cur dog that for six months has d
voted himself to the Interest of the Omaha
letter carriers. "Purp" came from nowhere
at the beginning of the last winter and
Immediately installed himself at the post
office, aa th. special friend of th. letter
carriers. He Is a medium slsed canln. of

feet and slate, spotted head and whit,

the city with the various carriers all win
ter and spring. He does not stick to on.
carrier In particular, but bestows his favors
among all of them. Sometimes he goes
with the mall wagons to the depots.
"Purp" evidently is a newspaper reader
and keepa close tab on dog tax time.
Hence for several days he has been diffi
dent about taking his chances on the
streets with the dog catcher without a tag.
The carriers Wednesday took up a sub
scription and bought "Purp" a collar and
tag.
He boards at th. postofflce, all the car
riers, and clerks contributing from their
lunches. "Purp" has been formally
adopted by the postofflce, and Is the only
dog that has free run of the building.
Yet at the same time he seems to know
of the general Inhibition against dogs be
ing permitted about the postofflce building,
and In fair weather, when not on duty
h. takes up his poult Ion at the carriers'
entrance and keeps watch.
