open Its new shirt and overall factory
Monday morning. Under present arrange
ments work will le provided for eighty
ixoplc. mostly young wonun. There will
be about sixty machines, all run by nn
ilcotrlc motor. The clothing will be cut
out in Omaha and sent here for making
up. Several Uiles of the cut garments were
leeched and stored in the building yester
day nfternotin. Tlie preparations and re
pairs on' the old city hall building have
been going on for several weeks past and
from present IndlcBltons the factory will
be a pleasant place. A soon us the offices
In the city hall' are vacated It Is expected
that the factory will be enlarged to the
full a partly of the building. It Is not
known whether the factory will be iiMe
to start Moi.day with the full complement
of workers, but a number will be ready to
begin. One of the foremen. In talking of
the situation yesterday afternoon, said:- "I
have worked among the factory girls nil
my life, and I know from actual expe'"lpnco
that these girls are reliable and honest.
They are not dressed up all the time, but
they are of a strong and capable kind.
They will be able to make from $fi to $S
or $9 a week, according to their experience
and ability. The expectation Is to secure

The city "clerk yesterday issued his
monthly statement of the city' finance.!,
showing the amount of the yearly levy and
the money which has been spent In the
various funds up lo the present date. Ac
cording to the stuteinent the city has
$76.33.70 apportioned 10 carry It over to the
beginning of the next fiscal year. There
ure still four months to run. A careful
estimate of the expense of the city for one
month Is ubout $17,0.10, of which $1,0 goes
for light. l,3ei for police. $S50 for Are pro
tection. $1.0iJ for water service nnd $i000
for olllclals. The rest goes for sundry ex
penses. Thus the entire cost of the city
government up to August 1 will be about
$ij,ic). There will be a balance in the
treasury of about SS.ouO at the end of the
year to apply on the levy of lii6. Of course

Kaatrr Observance. .
All of the South Omaha churches expect
to have special Kaster observances Sun
day morning. In some the Sunday schools
will have charge of the evening service.
At the First Presbyterian church there wiil
le a special song service, comprising solo,
quartet, anthem and congregutionul sing
ing. The holy communion will be admin
istered and Dr. R. I.. Wheeler will spe
cially urge the Christian life and Its ad
vantages. In the evening the service has
been given over to the Sunday school.
"l.lfe Beyond the Grave" will be the ub
Ject of the First Baptist church Sunday
morning. Appropriate Kaster music will
be rendered by I lie rhoir. The sacrament of
baptism will be administered at the even
ing service. The Sunday school will have
their regular service ut H 45 a. in. und the
young people will meet at 7 p. in.
The subject of Dr. Andrew Reuwirk's
sermon tomorrow morning will be "The
Kesurrectlon." The choir of the Unlttd
Presbyterian church will offer appropriate
music for the occasion.

Jesus." In the evening Dr. F. M. Slsson
will preach on the subject, "Our Obligation
Until Christ Returns." Prof. Baker will
have charge of the music, and as such In
sure a fine entertainment nnd a long-remembered
benefit to any who may chance
to hear this part of the service.

men. Hand ball will probably be popular

The fiscal year closes with the month of
April and the achievements of the year will
be tabulated and made puhllc as soon as
possible thereafter. The annual election
of five directors will be held May 7.
The annual game of basket ball between
the high school and the alumni will be
ployed Saturday evening. The puhllc are
invited.

The last session of the night school will
be held Monday, April 16, at which time the
mechanical drawing classes will finish up
their work for the season.
One of the most opular and efficient
organisations for the promotion of mem
bership getting has been the "(let-One"
club Idea, which has been run in other
years. A new one has been started to run
until May 3, and should be the means of
securing many new members. Every mem
ber who secures a new member by May
3 will become a member of the club and
will be In- at the club banquet May 4.

A highly pleasing concert was given at
the North Fide Christian church. Twenty
sixth and Grant streets. Friday evening,
by Ihe chorus choir of the chun-li, assisted
by soloists for the occasion. Tin program
was a rendition of Dubois' "The ' Seven
list Words of Christ." and was the an
nual Easter musical offering of the church
choir. The soloists were .Mrs. C. A. .Man
gum. soprano; James Knight, tenor, and
H. B. Mi l'hai'lin. baritone. Twenty voices
were Included In the chorus alone, und the
beautiful music was well sung. Instru
mental music was provided by violin, piano,
organ, harp and bass viol, under the di
rection of Mrs. H. J. Kuschstiiii, wife of
the church pastor. The auditorium of the
church was thoroughly filled.
