10 THE OMATIA DAILY BEE: TUESDAY, ArUTL 10, 1SX)fi. JEFFERIS THESEWCnAlRMAN Agreed on bj Republican Ho-j.u.';. to Direct the Bprine Campaign. ADVISORY COMMITTEE IS SELECTED tit Mfi Corapoaa latter and Their name Will De AtbmKlfd to ' City Comvlltrc for Approval. A. W. Jpffprls, chairman of the 6conil district eonRresKional rppubllcnn committee, was asrord upon for chairman of the new city republican committee by the candi dates at a meeting lasting moat of the mornjnfr at the Fontanolle club. Mr. Jet ferls wan consulted before the decision wai made final and ussonted to the propria I. He was chosen an reprrsentlnic a middle ground between the two factional extremes of the party. Robert Cowell, James H. Adams and Nel son C. Tratt all declined to serve as chair man, irivtnff pressing personal business OS their reasons. The two former were allied with the old machine nnd the last named with the one now existing. Besides agreeing upon a chairman Mr. Benson and the other candidates picked an advisory committee of six members from the various- factions to co-operate with the chairman and executive committee In man aging tho campaign. These names, OS fol lows, will bo presented to the committee for approval: Robert Cowell, W. A. Saunders, Tom L'ollister, N. V. Dodge, Jr.; A. H. Burnett and Jhn Allan. Cowell man aged the Moores campaign against Benson In 1903; W. A. Saunders was manager of the Fontanelle primary line-up; Tom Hol lister was an enthusiastic Hennlngs worker, N. F. Dodge, Jr., has been identi fied with the Fontanelle club, A. II. Bur nett is a leader In that organization and Jim Allan managed the Broatch campaign Committee Sot Yet Called. Chairman Cowell, owing to the nondeliv ery of certificates of election to the com mitteemen, was unable to call a meeting of tho new committee Monday night. It will be held as soon as arrangements can be made, posslBly Tuesday night. The Kqual Rights and Broatch people are claim ing control of the organization, but say they are disponed to be concllatory If cer tain tt their number are allowed a hand In the campaign work and management. The Fontanelles also claim control of the oommlttee. The Fontunelles are anxious 'to mollify the opposing faction all they can and are willing to go to extreme lengths to prevent a definite and marked split. Jefferis Is presumed to be fairly acceptable to the old machine and ex-Broatch forces. He managed the successful Kennedy cam paign. He was a Broatch supporter In the recent primary contest, Monday morning A. II. Hennlngs and Mr. Benson had a friendly chat at Fourteenth and Farnam streets and discussed Issues In the present campaign. Charlie Toung ers. who was one of the most avid Broatch men, la now loud In Ills support of Benson.
