NEW YORK, March 13 Today's market
showed little change from the neglected
state of yesterday and was almost Idle for
long Intervals during the day. Operations
were In the hands of the smaller class of
profesujnnal trader and In the Uiconstunt
tendency of prices gave an Impression of a
Vacillating opinion on the market by this
element. As a matter of fact, the occa
sional shifting In tha course of prices prob
ably represented nothing more than the
extension of the fictitious transactions of
the traders to the limits to which they
cared to carry them In the entire alwence
of the public and of the larger class of op
erators from the market. Price Inclined
lower during the early part of the day and
then recovered rather more than, the de
cline with considerable growth In activity.
Strength In Special stocks had much to 00
with directing the course of prices and this
waa due to Individual causes or to rumors.
American Smelting and National lyead also
moved upwards on a report on the merger
story. Among the more prominent mar
ket leaders the good resistance offered by
Union Pacific and, after an early yielding,
by Reading, had a sympathetic effect in
Improving the tone of the whole market.
Both railroads and Industrials for the,
southern district of the country made some
common 'show of strength bssed on the
large improvement shown In industrial con
ditions for that section. More general con
siderations were not much regarded. For
eign markets were somewhat depressed
again by tha reported hitch in the Mor
occan conference. There was no change., so
far as publicly known, in the status of the
coal strike outlook. Yesterday's supreme
court decision came In for consideration ss
marking the pYogress of measures of In
quisition against corporations and combina
tions of capital. The Chicago Union Trac
tion stocks suffered violent losses on ac
count of the supreme court declnion affect
ing its rights In the city streets.
Rates both for call snd time loans were
quotably lower, but the response to this
condition In the foreign exchange market
was a strong recovery. Discount rates
hardened In London and sterling exchnnge
rates fell hack at- Paris nnd Berlin. The
upward movement gathered force with the
driving In of some shorts late In the day
and the closing was quite active and near
the top level of the day, out sugniiy ir
regular. ...
- Bonds were heavy. Total sales for the
day. par value, fl.475.oon. United States
bonds were all unchanged on call.

CATTLE Receipts of cattle were ouit
large this morning, 211 cars being reported
In the yards, as against !c22 one week ago
and 311 two weeks ago. The weather was
decidedly unpropltlous, a heavy fall of
ano prevailing all the morning, which
made tha cattle show up to poor advantage.
(Julie a number of the trains were late and
the deep snow throughout the yard made
It difficult to get around so that the trad
was rather late In getting started,
lieef steers were especially slow in open
ing this morning. Although there was a
general feeling that the market would be
steady early bid were in many cases
lower, and It took some little time for buy
ers and sellers to get together. The good
cattle sold at prices not materially differ
ent from yesterday, as high as 15.00 being
paid for the Dest nere. 1 ne common to
medium grade were A little Inclined to
ward weakness.
Cows and heifer seemed to be In good
demand this morning and In consequence
the trade was reasonably active and the
big bulk of the offerings changed hands
in good . season In the fortnouu. Values
were not materially changed as compared
with yesterday.
Blockers and feeders were In light supply
nd fair demand, so that desirable kind
commanded good firm nrlces. The general
market on Blockers and feeders might be
quoted as unchanged.

GAe Bucna Vista Ore Buying,
Smelting' Power Co.
OFFERS 200,000 SHARES AT -15 CENTS EACH FOR
SALE. FULLY PAID, NON-ASSESSABLE.
Ttalg company own eight patenlg outright to produce an unlimited
heat capable to treat any low made ore. With gas made from 83 per
cent of air heated up to (00 degree farenhelt and 16 per cent of dis
tilled oil, called the wato from oil rcflnertea.
Not the raw, crude oil should be considered. This ia uot an expert
merit, but a cold, proven, practical fact of many yeari practical experi
ment by the inventor fend practical engineer, Charles A.. Kueoiel.
We have atartod. to build our plant at Buena Vista, Colo., upon a
complex of land of 130 acre. We will positively smelt ore as low as
$2.00 with large profit, the tost of one ton will not be over 41 cents to
amelt.
Tlie metal will be refined at our own plant. We will start with
one S5 ton smelter, which will be a capacity of 210 tons per day.
We do not Intend to flood a large amount of stock for the simple
reason, as soon as our first plant is in operation we will have all mine
owners with vs and get many times the price for our shares as we offer
them now. There is no doubt that our shares will get up to the price
of the Bell telephone share, which were sold nineteen years Ago at the
same price as we offer ours now.
Do not consider this a stock Jobbing scheme; it is a pwrfoctly legiti
mate and practical business proposition. This offer is only good up. to
March 20. 1B06.
Mine owners, or those interested In mining, can obtain controling
Interest with the inventor by means of a email investment, and become
directors In the affairs ot the company April 30th, 1906, the next elec

Btin.h,lJ 'ine sneep and lamb market is
In a very peculiar condition, and It I no
easy matter for the country to fully ap
preclatti the situation, it is not until a
snipper has been hare and seen for. him
selr thnt he Is in a position to thoroughly
understand th trend of the market at tlie
present time. As noted before In these
column,. It. is Dot a bear market. 1'ackurs
do not appear to be making any effort to
bixak prices, but, on- the contrary, buy
what tney need In about the same notches
from day to day, leaving the rest alone.
This morning th local packer were out
In good anason and tney picked out the
best ot the ottering, or at least that por
tion that they needed, paying fully steady
price. Thus the Mexican lamb, whlcn
sold at 16.46 yesterday, and which were
very good, brought tne same price today.
A big string of Mexican yearlings sold at
fi, with several loads of ewes at 10.26. After
tlie buyer had obtained what tney needed
they left the barn, and It then became a
matter not of price, but of finding someone.
to oia on i ae atun.
Shipper will understand from this that
the real cause of the trouble lays In a lack
of demand, or, rather, in tho demand being
less than the supply. This is true nut
merely of South Omaha, but pf all other
market as well. Kastern markets rs-,
pecially have had hard work to keep the
supply down to a point where It would not
be too much In excesa ol the demand.
A shipper might Imagine, undoj- the
conditions now prevailing, buyer are In a
position to make a wide distinction be
tween fair to good and good choice stuff.
When there I more coming than they can
use it i oniy natural that tney mould se
lect the choice, and It Is this kind that gat
the benefit of the bet price.
