The kliler mong the receipts sold at Just about steady j prices and there wa no quotable change ia in situation a compared with yeateiday. Receipt have bean light all thl week, as will be noted from the table showing th receipts, both lighter than A week ago and a year ago. At th umi Uni there hss been no scarcity In the supply. As has been detailed from day to day In these columns in oeniano tor Dotn aneep ana lanioe has not been very brisk, owing t the mutton markets of the east having been clogged up oy tne excessive runs or a week ago at an market points. A to price, th market at this point ha been quotel steady during th ast three days, but on Tuesday and Wed nesday it wa lower, followinga tronfC onemng on Monday. In comparing price with the close of last week It is difficult to see much change on the best grades, but the common and medium kind at soma lower. lerhupa the best way to get at a correct understanding of the actual conditions pre vailing of Iste would be to get to th very beginning of the break. On Tuesday of lust week the market wa very strong and active. It started out on Wednesday morning all right, but the close thst day was weak, packer announcing that they wer filled, both here and at every other market point. Thursday morning the break tarted and continued over to till week. At the present time value are generally 25c lower, even on the very best sheep and lambs, than they were on Tuesday ot last week, the day before the break started. Common and Inferior grade may have Buf fered even more man that. This decline has not been confined to South Omaha, but has been common to all market points, the only difference being that South Omaha, because ot the great effort put forth to keep down receipts, has not suffered a much a some other mar kets. Prices are high her as compared wim some oi mem. The future of the market muat depend upon the question of receipts and demand for the mutton. Packers have not at this point, at least, acted as if they were wedded to the bear side of the deal, or as If they were trying to break the market. It has seemed to be with them simply a matter of having use for th number of sheep and lamb crowded on to th market. If shipper generally can be Induced to let nothing come forward except what Is well finished and ripe for sale the situation will be greatly simplified.
