Vocal solo were given by Mr. Haverstock, Wil liam Oerke and Mr. Doyle. Lloyd Scruggs showed the Elk how to do sleight of hand. Captain A. B. Snow and William Costello favored the audience with monologues and Dr.. Ramaclottl told a story. An address on "The Principles of Elkdom" was delivered by Robert Cowell. The big hit of the evening -was a barytone olo -by Miss Bpeedle. a sprightly damsel of lx feet three and weighing close to 250 pounds, with wealth of auburn hair. She carried a half-bushel of carnations across her left arm. Later In the evening her Identity was disclosed and she proved to be Mr. Gardi ner, lately of Kanaas City, but now a resi dent of Omaha Miss Speedie had a power ful voice and she was encored again and again. The loss to Sioux City In the slaughtering line wa a gain to South Omaha. Armour' Sioux City plant was opened for the slaughtering of hogs on December 1 last year and since that time few hogs have been sent here to be killed.
