BETTER TIME FOR ONE LINE
NcvT Schedule, l usatlsfaetory ta Ion
Carmen, Issued for Twenty
Foarth Street. "
Patrons of the North Twenty-fourth
street car line will nave a mucn oetter
service after next Monday, when tho new
schedule goes into effect This schedule has
been posted in the car barn at Twenty
fourth and Ames avenue and the men have
been asked to choose their runs, the oldest
men having the first pick. Considerable
dissatisfaction is manifested among the
men, slthough a majority are pleased with
the changes, as It gives all more hours of
work. Tho average hours of work for tha
men formerly was from nine to nine and
one-hair, ana mis nu ueeu raisoa 10 an
average of from ten to ten hours and
twenty minutes.
The prinriiial rhanges will be tha addi
tion of three regular trains, which win give
a much Improved service. From 8 to 8:18
each evening there will be a one-minute
service north from Dodge street. The Isle
cars will leave Farnam street five minutes
later each evening.
The time will be faster after 10:30 t
night and some running will have to be
doue to keep the schedule. The main com
plaint of the men is the daylight men will
have to make an extra run In the evening
and some will have to run the new cars for
a time and then change to open cars. The
new cars will have the stoves In front with '
the inotoiinan, who will be enclosed. The
motormau will have a stool. Some f.f the
men will run for an hour and a half, then
lay off for four ,houra and then run for
eight or nine hours, and this feature they
do not like.
The new schedule Is so arranged that tt
will give the extra men a better chance to
make wages than they had under the old.
It leaves but four extra rrews on the line
and these are better taken care of.

Home men who run a newspaper clipping

"A hard winter may be ahead." he says,
