The world's ahlpmenta tf wheat were 1.1.812,000 buahela, against 13.680,000 bushels last week and H,OM),ooO bushels last year. Corn ahlpmenta were 3.493,000 buahela, gainst 4,087,000 bushels last week. Liverpool closed unchanged to 44 lower on wheat and 40-4d lower on corn. Ar gentina weather waa reported favorable and Russian ahlpmenta wera heavy. Primary wheat receipts were 1.745.000 bushels and ahlpmenta 466,000 bushels, against receipts of 1.847,000 bushels last year and ahlpmenta of 732,000 bushels. The Increased buying of Manitoba wheat last week by Europe and the large Inquiry for the United States crop Indicate that some of the European traders are fore casting a bullish future. The season for Manitoba wheat Is almost over, as far as bike shipments are concerned, and another week or ten days will see tha last of them. The wheat is being sent to eastern lake and seaboard ports, to bo held for future disposition. .lames I'otlen of Chicago ears be has learned that twenty-elf; tit loads of corn have been cancelled by Baltimore shippers on agreement with foreign buyers. He fears a dull corn market. From the Inter Ocean: "What traders wait news from Argentina, as t Is ex pected to be a factor In making prices and Influencing speculation for the next thirty days. Last week brought sensational r. ports of crop losses In Argentina, which If confirmed may change the future course of prices In the world s wheat markets, and especially Kurope. Kvery one la looking for a crop acare In Argentina this voar, and according to the rules of the trade one Is iuo, as it Is seldom that a country raises four successive large crops. NEW YORK STOCKS AND BONDS f peculatWe Spirit Bhowi Itself Indifferent to DevelopraeDti of Dar. GENERAL LIST DULL ON PROFIT TAKING Metal atoeka Are lllaher on Advaore In Prlcea of t opper and Lead Heavy Plamp In Rock Island Shares. NEW TORK. Nov. 27.-lTie speculative spirit showed Itself entirely Indifferent to any development of affairs which did not point the wav that the general enthusiasm rsn. Such Incidents as the crumbling away of the prices of the Rock Island stocks to day or the renewed weakness In Russian securities abroad have been sufficient In times pest to put an effective check upon the speculative movement and induce a reversal In the course of prices. But to dy' sensational advances continued to oc cur here and there In the market, with scarcely any attention being paid to these occurrences. A heavy digestion of profits was effected, which Is a weakening process on the technical position of the trading In ltseir. The flare of nrlces In the Immediate open Ing after last week's considerable gains and exnansion of activity might havo been disquieting, as such a demonstration Is looked upon as a likely sign of a culmina tion In a speculative movement :ind as a nreenrsor of reaction. These and nil other signs were ignored in me aeierminen prim ing of speculative operations todsy. The substantial recuperation of the banking po sition disclosed by the Saturday bank state ment, the fact that it was obtained bv actual replenishment of cash reserves and the easier tendency In today's money mar ket seemed to overwhelm all other consider ation. Sicial developments helped some stocks and vague surmises of developments were even more effective In others. The southern Iron group was a notable example. On top of wide advances already achieved and substantial evidence of an oagerness to take profits as shown, especlallv In Ten nessee I'onl this morning, the stocks in the group developed renewed animation and Jumped in a paroxysmal manner. The old stories of a merger of the members of the group have been authoritatively denied and little was heard today of last week's report of an effort to secure Tennessee Coal by the United States Steel corporation. The supposition was held, however, that a strug gle for control In the open market might bn Involved. The unconcern with which tii- violent Mdvances seemed to be observed was against the supposition that severe losses were being inflicted uion any considerable short Interest by the furious idvances. Smelting and Lead proved agnln the ready control of the market managers of these stocks. In the general list the movements were much less conspicuous and there was a steady process of prollt-taklng which tire vented some stocks from rlBlng higher than the opening. This was notably true of Union Pacific and of the United States Steel stocks. The sluaalshness In these stocks was offset by the strength devel oped, first in St. Paul, and a number of others in succession. Atchison njoved n vigorous advance as a result of Its strong showing of net earrings for October. A fur ther rise in the price of copper here and In London awakened a movement In Amal gamated Copper. The sustaining influences carried the market through the period of the sluniD in the Rock Island Issues with only moderate effect nnd it was not until late In the day that the weight of profU taklng began to make a general effect upon prices. There was a violent recovery in some of the buoyant industrials In the final dealings to the best prices of the I... v,,, , v.- nin.i nn. u,a. .mo-hot Irregular under the effects of continued profit-taking.
