JUDGE BERKA SPRINGS JOKE Police Magistrate Cracks Paa 'mum Attorney Lanark Battoa OS Bis Vest. The Martln-Wunderltck calf case came tip for hearing In police court Thursday morn ing and knocked out the underpinning of dignity In Judge Berka'a Judicial drawing room. It appeared a calf owned by John Martin wandered from the Martin preserves and was sheltered by Frahk Wunderllck, who held the animal for board and keep. Mar tin said he went over to Wunderlick's place and Identified the calf and then had his neighbor arrested for disturbing tho peace. One of the witnesses In the case, William Rose, colored, sprung a Joke while on tho stand by saying he could get neither head nor tall of the matter when ha heard Martin and Wunderllck talking. . Then Judge Berka asked Rose why he did not get the head and tall of the calf and thus settle the matter, which re Joinder caused C. R. Scott to break two buttons off his white vest, so hard did the attorney for the defense laugh. Wunderllck was discharged. StatrTlaa.
