MURRAY THE HUMORIST DERI!
Wit and Ion Hiker of tb Bom Arena
Etrikis the City.
OMAHA 'COMES AHEAD OF ST. LOUIS
Haller Is Renndlnej Oat Plans to
nia Show la Maim that
Gives Eneonraaemeat
to All Concerned.
Manager Haller has the big banne
stretched across Farnam street announcing
the horse show and all who walk may read.
The hitching tent has been erected on tha
vacant lot near the Auditorium and every
thing Is rounding to In fine shape for the
opening of the big show next Monday. The
street car banners are being placed on tha
cars and the red and white of the horse
show Is vlelng with the Ak-Bar-Ben colorg
for prominence all over the city..
There Is considerable demand for ticket!
for the show, especially for the opening
night, when a splendid program will he put
on. Tickets have been placed on sale id
Council Bluffs for the accommodation of
patrons of the show fronj that city.'
Murray of the firm of Crow ft Murray,
the wit and funmaker, was seen In the
basement of the Auditorium with his peti
and when asked by a reporter of The Bea
why lie came to Omaha when St. Louis, a
larger town, had a show the same week, ha
said :
"Because I promised Mr. Peck I would
come to Omaha before I knew there was a
show at St. Louis, and you know a man
could not break his word with an associa
tion of men that treated the visiting horse
men the way that the Omaha men did last
year."
Murray told an Interesting experience
which he had at Kansas City last fall. He
had a polo pony entered which he rod
himself. The ponies were entered for each
night and for five nights Mr. Murray, who
is always the hit of any show, rode his
pony Into the arena, and as the same thing
happened each night, the judges refused to
even look at his pony. On the last night
he told his groom to watch him. as he was
going to make the Judges notice htm.
Pony Goes to near.
When the Judges were walking before
each horse Murray would ride his pony
between the Judges and the pony they were
Inspecting and wave his number, which
was 7. Finally the number was called and
sure enough It was 7. The judges, how
ever, Informed Mr. Murray that the clerk
had made a mistake and that No. 9 had
won, so he had to take his pony to the
rear. i
This decision did not suit soma of the
women of Kansas City and they were pro
pared with a large bouquet, which they
sent out with the Inscription on a card
large enough to be seen all over the build
ing, "We believe that you are entitled to
the prize. Women of Kansas City." Mur
ray took the roses and started around the
arena, but In his flurry he forgot that he
was astride a polo pony instead of one of
his Immense hunters, and he pulled the
rein as he would for a hunter, with the re
sult that the little polo pony slid from
under him and Murray and rosea were scat
tered all over the arena.
Murray has but two horses whloh he had
at the Omaha show last year, but his new
ones are crackerjacks. His especial pride
Is his new roadster team, and as he patted
them he said: "They'll have to go some to
beat that pair."
"President," a new horse which Mr. Mur
ray has had but three' months, is the head
of his stable at present, hence his name.
He Is said to be one of the most stylish
hordes that walks and will be given the
position as lead in the tandem.
Mr. Murray's park four, all new except
"Sporting Duchess." are perfectly matched,
all pure bays, and with these he also ex
pects to win a few persimmons. Eight
Jumpers and saddle horses are also In Mr.
Murray's string and there are some beau
ties In this lot.
Chamberlain's Colic. Cholera and
Diarrhoea Remedy Saver
Disappoints.
Twenty years ago Mr. Geo. W. Brock dis
covered that Chamberlain's Colic. Cholera
and Diarrhoea Remedy was a quick and
safe cure for bowel complaints. "During
all of these years." he says, "I have used
It and recommended it many times and the
results have never yet disappointed me."
Mr. Brock is publisher of the Aberdeen,
Md., Enterprise. This is the universal ex
perience of all who rely upon this remedy.
It can always be depended upon, even In
the most severe and dangerous cases. It
is equally valuable for the children and
adults. When reduced with water and
sweetened it Is pleasant to take.
