Liverpool closed jd lower on wheat and ici lower on corn. The weakness In wheat was attributed to the bearish French official reports. Broomhall cabled the official estimate of the French wheat crop this year as 337.6oO.000 bushels, which Is considerably above the average for five years and 40,0un,000 bushels above 1904 Roumanta Is said to have the best crop In five years. I'rlmary wheat receipts were 1.498,000 bushels and shipments 4S3.000 bushels, against receipts last year of l,2.i4,000 bushels and shipments of W.ono bushels. Corn re ceipts were 690.000 bushels and shipments il4,000 bushels, against receipts last year or 24.000 bushels. Clearances were 7,000 uumieiB hi corn ana n,ixj barrels of flour. Hradstreet's total wheat Increase Is 4.955, 000 bushels; total corn decrease, lo2,0r bush els; total oats Increase, 1,997.000 bushels Advices, from grain houses In various parts of Nebraska and Iowa show that 90 per cent of the corn of these two states Is out of the way of frost. Valentine made a liberal distribution of nroarrage orders on both sides of the mar- yeeternay. lie sntrt through half a doien broker early and at the same time seemen to nave others buying-. Hedging and profit-taking were the tea. tures of the Minneapolis market. The cash demand there continues very good. Country elevators in the northwest are filling up wun wneat, oats ana barley. Home are al ready full and cannot ret cars to shin. Motive power also Is scarce. Flour ship ments at Minneapolis last week were 432,693 uDia., me largest since 1903. Liberal primary receipts further weakened values. At the wn toe December delivery waa pi :. Corn Is down c. Oats show a loss of tjc. Provlsluns are practically unchanged. Sentiment In the wheat pit was bearish the greater part of the day. At the start December waa He lower to He higher at iitc. Shortly after the opening a sale ll'l Vtrtmbtr delivery was made at WW'S c. The market then reacted and before the end of the first hour December had sold off to 8?4Vj. The weather In the northwest continued extremely favorable for harvest operations and for the move ment of the crop. Receipts at Minneapolis and Duluth were again heavy, arrivals to day at the two points aggregating 1.311 car day against 948 cars the corresponding year ago. Pit traders and commis sion houses were the chief sellers. Ad- parent absence of any definite demand from the leading bull, who has been recently fuch an active buyer, tended to augment bearish sentiment. An Increase of 6,UU0,0u0 Liu. m tne world s visible supply was an additional aid to the bears. Primary re ceipts showed a considerable Increase In total arrivals todav at the nrlncloal erraln centers of the United States, being 1,198,009 . compared wun l.SA.vn ou. a year ago. About the only bullish factor was a report maae ny tne weather bureau at Washing ton. According to this report, the yields of wheat n North Dakota were proving consiaeraoiy smaller than generally ex pected. During the last part of the ses sion the market held comDaretlvelv steady The close was somewhat easy, with De cember at 86iiS6o. Clearances of wheat and flour were eaual to 11.100 bu. Minne apolis. Duluth and Chicago reported re ceipts of 1,4S cars, against 1,148 cars last weeg ana i.uw cars a year as a. Perfect weather for the maturing of tho corn crop caused an easy tone In the corn market. The weather bureau weekly re port claimed that 76 to 90 per cent of the entire corn crop of the United States Is now safe from Injury by frost. Absence of export demand tended to weaken values. The market closed easy. December opened shade lower at 46Hc. sold oft to 44S1i 44o and closed at 44-a34&o. Local receipts were 440 cars, with isi cars ot contract grade. Heavy receipts and rood weather caused general selling of oats, resulting In some weakness. Country acceptances wera re ported liberal. This Induced additional selling. December opened unchanged to a shade lower at 28c to 28'&28o, sold off to ;'gaic and closed at ic. Local re ceipts were 38 cars. A fair demand from shorts held the pro visions market steady, notwithstanding a weak market for live hogs. A feature of the trading was liquidation on October Products. At the close January pork was up a shade at 312.36. Lard was up a snaas at W77Vu&0. Ribs -unchanged at 88.47. PRICE MOVEMENT IS INSIGNIFICANT Interior Demaad for Faads la Re ported to Have Set la Acala wlta Increased Feres, NEW TORK. Bert. 88. There wss very little speculative activity In the stock market-today, owing to the restraint of the money situation. The trading was letharglo t times and the prtc movement was In significant. Stocks In hlch the movement wss of anv conseauenee were of the less mportant grades. Apparently money lend ers refrained from the active calling of loans, such as Induced the llntildatlon of yesterday, and holders of stocks were re lieved from the necessity of marketing meir noinings. nut in spite or tne freedom rrom pressure on this account there was little disposition to undertake new ven ttires in the market In face of the uncertain money prospects. Borrowing of money to buy stocks which are to figure as collateral In the loan Is not an attractive undertaking at a time when a poor demand In the mar net is name to meet the forced sale or the collateral when the loan la recalled. It Is estimated that the dividends and Interest ayahle in October will call for between rt.OOO.ono and 872.ono.000. These requirements will follow closely upon any release of bonds following the conclusion of this week's syndicate transactions, with the final Installment of the Japanese loan sub scription In the background of next month Meantime the interior demand for funds wss reported to have set In again with In creased force, and the same is true of the subtreasury drain on the bank reserves. Todays subtreasury statement shows a withdrawal from the banks since the last bank statement of 33.017.000, compared with a gain by the banks for the same period last week of $199,000. Foreign exchange here was decidedly strong and moved away from the gold Import point, while discounts hard ened in London and Herlin. The private rate of discount In London Is again above the bank rate, this Indicating the expecta tion that the bank will advance Its rate on Thursday. But the same condition ruled Inst week at this time, when the decision of the bank authorities followed to main tain the existing rate. The likelihood seems stronger, however, that the bank rate will be advanced this week. The news of the day otherwise was not Important and the few stocks affected were under the Influence of Individual causes. The rise In Amalgamated Copper was ac counted for by an advance In the price of the metal and the Increased Anaconda divi dend. There was a special movement In traction stocks, led by Brooklyn Transit, which was shared by Chicago Union Trac tion. Chicago Subway on the curb dropped an extreme 8. following a 9-point break yesterday. Reports of large purchases of Iron abroad for American Interests was taken to account for the firmness In the Iron and steel stocks. The favorable weekly crop bulletin did not attract much atten tion, as the facts It contained were gen erally well known. In connection with the payment of the final Installment of $50,000,000 by Saturday on subscriptions to the Penn sylvania convertible bonds It Is Important to consider that 850.000.000 of the 4 per cent collateral betterment notes of the Pennsylvania, guaranteed by the Pennsyl vania, railroad fall dua on October L or. that date being Sunday, on October 2, next Monday. These two operations will have an offsetting effect In the money market that can hardly be expected to obviate entirely he necessity for considerable snirung 01 nrtm Tho iiav s net cnanres were insn- nlflcant and the closing tone was Irregular. The quality of the fattio was fainy good and there was a fair sprinkling of corn feds on sale. There was little life to tho trade on beef steers, although buyers were picking up the stuff right along. There was very little call for native beef and sellers found It very hard to move even at a decline. Buy ers were indifferent on this class of cattle and some of the stuff was practically un saleable. A decline of lft-gaX' was noted en these cattle, both on the good and com mon grades. Western cattle, which con stituted the big end of the receipts, were In considerable demand and were quoted fully steady. Buyers seemed to want cattle of this kind and they moved freely at the prices. lucre was a good supply of cows and heifers here today and there was a good feeling to the trade. There were very few natives on sale, the stuff cons sting mostly of westerns. Packers appeared to have plenty of orders and prices bid and paid were little different from yesterday, unless they were a little stronger. Buyers seemed to take to butcher's stock more freely than to the beef, and trade In this line was In good shape. The market could best ha quoted as being fully steady with yesterday. The market at this point is in very satisfactory condition and there Is a good strong demand for all grades of sheep, especially for feeders. Receipts on the opening day of the week were liberal Snd the trade was strong and about the same conditions prevailed today. As soon as the sheep arrived and were shaped up buyers and sellers got together and there wss considerable activity to the trade, with prices steady to strong. There was a good feeder supplv here snd a good strong demand, with plenty of or drs to be filled. Some of the good' feeders old a little stronger than yesterday's prices, while the general market was fully steady.
