Relatives Hera.
Cornelius Shlnerth, the aged German who
for many years lived the life of a recluse
tn a shack at Seventh and Jones streets
and was struck by a locomotive while pick
ing up coal last Sunday, died Wednesday
night at a hospital. Shlnerth was 74 years
of age and had no relatives here, so far as
anyone can learn. The body has been taken
care of by friends, who will bury the old
man at the Holy Sepulcher cemetery. Serv
ice will be held at the St. Mary Magdalene
church. Nineteenth and Dodge streets, Fri
day rooming.
When Shlnerth was taken to the surgeon's
room at the police station last Sunday Rev.
J. W. Btenson administered tha extreme
unction of the Catholic church.

rado Bear Hunt." and will describe the
expedition which he made last April with
Dr. Alexander Imbert and Philip B. Stew

much to the Interest of the reader snd more
to the solution of the disappearance of
the child and her ultimate restoration, and
there are several other clever characters

"The Opal" Is a story of Boston society
life which deals with characters and events
In an amusing and entertaining manner.
The novel Is written anonymously, which
adds to Its charm, as It Indicates more
strongly that the foundation of the story st

of the book Is direct and frank and It Is
predicted that the book will be one of the

"The Plum Tree," by David Graham Phil

ter study. The hero, Harvey Sayler, Is of

gains. From an applicant for favors from
the party boss, one Domlnlck. he gradually
climbs until he becomes the prty boss him
self, meeting many of the obstructions of

"Ellra." by Harry Pain, ts a book full of
American humor, although the setting Is
English, the scene being laid In London.
