The firms affiliated with the National Hoard of Trade at Ksn sas City did not get any quotation!, but those with Chicago connections were luck iT. Nobody ttot the cash marketa of otlier center besides Chicago. Wheat and oata were a little lower and corn waa stronger. Trade wa light, owing" to iar-K or news. S7,000 buahela of oats and 70.MO barrels of flour. Chicago wired there waa an excellent trade In December and May corn. Offer ings of wheat wero not large. Minneapolis wired there waa a strong cash market, with excellent demand for wheat at Friday's prices. Chicago reported cash business yesterday as 16.00 bushels of corn and aoo.ooo bushels of oata. The seahonrd reported 32.000 bush els of corn and i:.u00 bushels of oats. Cables made but a feeble response to the American advance of yesterduy. JJverpool closed unchanged on wheat and Hd higher on corn. Foreign markets show an utter Indifference to the Husslan crop reports which are used to affect the American market. A new set of Russian estlmstes iaa come by cable from Broomhall. They were said to be semi-official and showed a deflilency of 179,000,000 bushels of wheat. 360.iO,000 bushels of rye and a shortage of over l.OOO.OOu.OfO bushels of all kinds of grain, aa compared with 1H04. On this sit uation a prominent exporter la quoted by the Record-Herald aa saying: "Excluding Russian wheat from the reckoning, we are sure to feel this Immense loss In rye, bar ley and coarse grains In that country. When you consider that the principal con tinental countriea consume rye and barley bread almost entirely and will have to get our rye or barley to supply deficiencies, or a substitute, probably our wheat, you can see what Unpractically sure to come In our markets. Their oats shortage Is already Jibing felt and will reflect on corn." Omaha Cash Sales. WHEAT No. I, 1 car at 76V4c 1 car at fTHc; no grade, 1 car at 73c. Provisions are practically unchanged. In wheat at the start no signs of weak ness were In evldeme. On the contrary septlment was quite bullish, opening quota tions for Iecember being up MOWc at 4-l9 MSc. General rains northwen and south west formed the chief basis of strength although there were a number of minor Influence. The most Important perhsps waa the continued strength of cash wheat. A leading bull also waa reported as buying quite freely. Vnder this demand December advanced to M7c. Later an Impression de veloped that the bull leader who had been an active Luyer earlier In tr.e aay nan. turned seller on the bulge. This started general selling which resulted In consider able reaction In prices, Iiecember declining to MHie. Final quotations on Ierember were at MHfiM'aC. Clearances of wheat and flour wore equal to I07.0u0 bu. Frlmary re relpts were fc2.ono bu., compared with Mf.0"0 bu. a year ago. Minneapolis, Duluth and Chicago reported receipts of U2 cars, against 6" cars last week and 6f cars a year s-o. The corn market waa firm as a result of wet weather throughout the middle west. Influenced by the essler tone of wheat, the oats market was subjected to consider able profit-taking resulting In slight de clines. December opened lower to a shade higher at 23c to 2trC9c. sold off to Ir-Sc and closed at 2Sc. Local receipts were V.6 cars. A violent advance In the price of live hogs had a stimulating effect on the provision market. In addition shipments of meat and lard were large. FIRMNISS DiiE 10 BANK STATEMENT tarplas Reserve Is Received by Large Shlftlaa of Utm to Traat torn pa ales More Gold Im ports Probable. NEW TORK, Sept IS There waa a burst of animation with the closing deal ings in stocks, making the last prices the highest of the week and at considerable gajns over last week s closing Toda) s market was dull until after the appearance of the bank statement, whlcn was similar to Its predecessors of the week In being largely professional In Us character. '1 he Undertone was strong throughout, as confi dence waa strong mat the banks would manage to conserve their allowing of a sur plus reserve by the shifting of loans to the trust companies and otlier Institutions, as was done last week. The appearance or the bank statement Justified this confi dence and was followed by the final out burst of demand which made the closing strong. The loan reduction, while very- heavy, was only about two-thirds as large as the unparalleled contraction enected last week. The decline tn cash reserves waa up to the common expectations, tstock market comment shifted to the prospect ot further gold Imports next week as relief from the continued decline upon the MtiK reserves by the suotreasury absorp ttoa and the movement of funds to the Interior. Reports from Iondon of demand for gold upon that center from other sources were studied with Interest as a bearing upon the chances of securing for New l ork the large shipments of gold now moving towards Lontlin from coutn Af rlca and Australia. Of special Interest was the report that Faris wns competing to secure some part of these fXDected ar rivals. If London becomes hard pressed to maintain Its gold supply It la expected that the demand from New Tork will be shifted from that center to Paria. The special strength of Canadian Taclfle In the market was due to a report of an offer for the purchase of the company's land hold ings. The Chesapeake A Ohio reflected the strong showing of Its annual report. Some special demand also continued for the Wa bash Issues Total sales of bonds, par vslue, tl.J3o.00n. The recelpta of beef steers were liberal this week, but the offerings were mostly westerns, there being only a light supply of native cattle here. The market for the week was satisfactory and there was a good demand for supplies, although prices in some cases were lower. Native cattle were not of prime quality and on the first two days of the week buy ers pounded the market on these kinds and there waa a break in prices, but during the remainder of the week this decline was partly regained. As compared with the close of laat week the market stands about 1015c lower, but with a better feeling than on the opening days. Western cattle held up In good shape and there waa a good, strong demand all the week. Buyers wanted the cattle and there was considerable activity to the trade. On the good kinds prices were Just about steady, but on the commoner grades there was some weakness to the trade and values were a little lower. ' Cows and heifers ware In good demand all the week and there waa a good active market every day. Buyers were anxious for she stuff and were willing to pay a good price for it. Anything good was 10yl5o blgher for the week, while the poorer grades were just about steady. nuns, veai caives ana stags neia up wen all the week and the market was steady with the close of last week. There was a fairly liberal supply of stock ers and feeders on sale this week and they were i-lcked up readily. There waa a good demand for feeders from all sources every day and salesmen had no trouble In dis posing of their holdings. Oood heavy stuff ruled fully steady, but the lighter weights were a little weaker. HOGS There was hardly anything here today that could be called a nog hiarket and their conditions of the trade were very uncertain. The recent storms severely af fected railroad service and salemen had no woy of ascertaining what the receipts wouid be. Trains were late and the stuff kept stringing In all day. At 11 o'clock there were twenty-lne loads In the yards and no way of telling whether they would be any more or not. The light supply made trading dull, as there was hardly enough stuff on. sale to make a market. The market was very uncertain and the stuff moved slowly values however ruled higher and the demand was good. The general market was 5c higher than yester day and In some cases an even blgper ad vance than this was noted. The bulk of the hogs sold st 15 361; 5 30 with some hogs selling up to 15.324.
