veyed. The requisite resurveys, and sur
veys of metes and bounds of all existing
claims of actual occupanta, together with
the metes and bounds of school sections,
to be executed In compliance with specltl
catlons and Instructions and existing offi
cial surveying regulations. Proposals for
executing the resurveys and surveys of
lines of existing claims must also Include
In the rates per mile the preparation of the
plats of the resurveys In triplicate and the
field notes In duplicate, the metes snd
bounds of claims and school sections and
their Intersections with the lines of resur
vey, to he Indicated on the plats and de
scribed In the field notea. The rates of
mileage to be allowed for the field and
office work will not be In excess of $9 per
mile for standard snd meander lines. $7

resurveys and survey of lines of existing
claims will be furnished bidders on appli
cation to the Commissioner of the General
Land Office, Washington, D. C. Each pro
posal must be accompanied by a certified
check for $500. Proposals will be consid
ered only from practical and experienced
surveyors of acknowledged ability and In
tegrity, evidences of which from responsi
ble parties must be submitted with re
spective bids. The party or parties to
whom the contract or contracts may be
awarded will be required to execute the

Real Estate Exchange Has Stricture

provesaent Clubs.
President George G. Wallace of the Real
Estate exchange presented to the exchange
Wednesday subjects for discussion, which
will claim attention at meetings for
several weeks. Mr. Wallace brought up
these subjects In a written communication
the members of the club, and copies
were made for distribution among
the members. The Questions are con
cerning the demand for more houses,
the best way of putting before the peoplo
of the country the need of Omaha for moia
population and the proper relations Of the
exchange to the Improvement clubs. Tim
paragraph of the letter relating to Im
provement clubs Is as follows:
What ought to be the relation of this ex
change to the Improvement clubs, espe
cially with a view of curbing and guiding
their action? Wn must realize that in some
Instances these clubs have fallen into ths
hands of men who are Irresponsible, with
no visible means of support, and whose in
terests are largely governed by selfish endi
or the commission which they may recelva
from contractors for certain public Im
provements, our property and the prop
erty of our ctlt nts In some cases is being
burdened with special taxes where the
masses of the people do not mske such de
mand, but pressure Is brought upon the
authorities through the manipulation of
