Commission hous were moderate purchasers on the unsettled condition of weather in the northwest. In addition higher prices at Liverpool InduceJ some buying. The factor, however, that perhaps exerted most Influence on the sit uation was the firmness of cash wheat at all outside markets. The fuct that primarv receipts today were TM.fuu bu., compared with l,llom bu. a year ago, had also a bullish effect. Throughout the d.iv prices fluctuated within a small range, December soiling between 82c and Si'yiifcHc. The market clogd firm, with December at 2t ti2Sc. Clearances of wheat and flour were equal to 132,Ouo bu. Minneapolis, Duluth and Chicago reported receipts of 277 cars as against 856 cars last week and 719 cars a year ago. lh corn market was firm as a result of smaller receipts. Cool, wet weather was another factor that brought out considera ble buying- orders from outsldo traders. Thn market closed at practically the highest Point of the day. December opened Vu c higher at 43Vfi43',c, sold up to 44c and closed at 43Vq43-1c. Local receipts were 841 cars, with 146 cars of contract grade. Oats wer strong. Reports that 6o,0f) hu. of oats had been worked here over night for export and fhat there were bids near the, market price for ln.ono bu. more stimulated excellent demand unonx pit traders and commission houses. Light receipts aided the bulls. The market closed strong with prices at the highest point of the day. De cember opened a shade to S"," higher at 26tS26c, sold up to 87o and closed at the top. Local receipts were 17 cars. Provisions were decidedly weak early In the session on active selling by pit traders and commission houses. The October deliv eries showed the greatest losses. A l(c decline In the price of live hogs was the chief weakening Influence. The market re covered nearly all the loss on buying by prominent packers. The close was fairly steady. October pork ranged between 114.174 and 814.65, and closed at 814 57 4. Lard sold between 17.60 and $7.70 and closed at 87.624- Ribs closed at 88.624 after gell ing between 8 SO and 88 674. For the four days this week there has been a considerable gain In re ceipts as compared with the corresponding period of Inst week and a very large gain as compared with a year ago. The general market did not show very much change as compared with yesterday, good kinds of cattle for the most part being Just about steady. Desirable corn-fed steers were In fair request and sold In about the same notches as yesterday. Warmed up and half fat cattle coming Into competition with grass beef were slow sale, the same as they have been almost every day since the range season opened. Western range steers of good flesh seemed to move Into buyers' hands quite freely at rood steady prices by reason of the fair demand and the moderate offerings. Cows and heifers, at least the good killing grades, sold about the same as they did yesterday, although It took longer than on some days to effect a clearance owing to the late arrival of some of the trains. Holders of commonlsh kinds In some cases reported that lt was a llttln harder to get the prices than on some days. Stocker heifers seemed to be rather dull. As was the esse yesterday, a very con siderable proportion of the receipts con sisted of feeders and stockers. As regards the beat feeders, that la cattle of first class quality and good weights, the msrket was fully steady and the movement fairly active. On the other hand, the common to prcttv decent feeders were slow and lower. Cattle on the stocker order lacking weight were very much neglected and hard to sell. On anything but good feeders the market was, In tbe language of the yards, "mean." Representative sales: BEEF BTEKRS. NO. ' 34. . .. Mr.. But the crowd Is too big for Denver. I was In ths paYada Wednes day, and lis only equal Is the grind re view at Washington In May. 18G6, of which I was also a paftlolpant The fact Is the crowd was bigger than ths Denver, folks figured on. There were at least 60,000 old vets In the grand march snd It was worth a lifetime to see It. Denver Is treating the old boys all right and they appreciate It. Many 0 them left last night . Our train had sixteen coaches and hundreds were turned sway from ths train, Ths great trouble la going to bs to get ths crowds away from Denver. Most of the old boys want to quit aftsr ths parads and are coming home on every train. "It looks as If Corporal Tanner of New York will be elected national cpmmander, with General O. M.
