THE OMAHA DAILY BEEt TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1905. EVEN BREAK AT VINTON PARR 8ini Citj Win 1 . ,f and Oatkt Take leebD . Crttoe. QUICK TOO EASY FOR THE VISITORS tlx Tfc Peayl Atteaa th Labor Day !ate-n,eaaer Rnrk Trie Oat Fart, prnl(lii( PHrkrr, An even break was the best Ihe Champi could do with the Eloux from up the creek a a Labor day celebration at Vinton street park before .d"0 people Monday afternoon. Omaha wa lucky to get the even break after the way the first name waa played, for the Sleux took a few llbertlei with Mr. Quirk which, coupled with a couple of errors In the first Inning, mode mat ter look a little bad for a time. In fart no bad that Pa called Quick off the perch and placed Fort, a youngster from Min neapolis, who had alt eorta of shoots and twists and who held the Sioux without a core after his first Innlna Pa Rourke Intends to sign Fort for next year's team. The first came waa won right from .the Jump when Polan booted Newton's grounder and Sheehsn singled Thomas' error filled the bases and then Pulslfer sirs-led and scored Newton and Sheehsn. Noblit was an eaay out and Collins hit a (rounder to Dolan, who caught Weed at the home plate, Pulslfer scoring- on . O'Hara'a single. .Two more were added by the Sioux In . the fifth Inning- by three singles and a stolen base. Weed led off with a single, followed by another by Pulslfer. Noblit flew out to McCloekey and O'Hara scored both Weed and Pulslfer by a single to right. The game was gone and Quick waa retired and Fort brought In. The Champs made their only two runs In the sixth Inning when Carter hit safe and Welch placed the ball over the right field ' fence. The game ended with the Ecore 7 to 3 In favor of the Bloux. ernad Ralme DtlTereat. The second game was a different story. Koukllk was opposed to Cadwallader, the 8liux whom the Champs had put to the bad Saturday. Cad held the Omaha's to five hlta, while nine were made off the new recruit from the Chicago city league and Omaha made four errors to their two, but that made no difference, Omaha needed the game and took it. Dolan made two of his three errors in" the fifth Inning and these coupled with two hlta brought In two rune, tying the score. After Quick had flown out to Weed Thomaa singled and Lawler also did the same. Gondlng went out to Newton and Koukllk walked, when Carter showed that he ,1s the pinch hitter of the team by driving a rorker that passed the pitcher and scored Thomaa and Lawler. Sioux City tied In the fifth Inning. Shea struck out and Cad singled and was brought home by Newton's double. Dolan booted Sheehan's drive and he also missed a grounder from Pulsifer'a bat which per mitted Newton to score. Carter walked In the seventh, went to second on Welch' single, to third on Schlpke's grounder which retired Welch at second and came home when the Sioux failed to atop a double steal. Another was added In the eighth when Thomas reached first on Newton's error, went to third when Weed foosled Oondlng'a drive and scored on a fielders' choice. Koukllk had hit the ball and Thomas started home from third. Cad tried to catch Thomas . at- the, plat, tut , he alid , under and , was safe. Ktael Barry more Atteads. Many notable characters occupied the tress and other boxes and the sight of the largest crowd of the season was one long ij be remembered. Ethel Barrymore, who pened the season at the Boyd last even ing, .was at the park for her third visit since she has been in the city, not a game having been missed. She is quite a fan. Two of Pa's new pitchers look very good and the third did not do so badly for the time he worked. The team leavea this morning for Sioux City. The score: SIOUX CITY. AB. R. H. PO. A. E.
