Thursday afternoon Sergeant Whalen of the police court filed with Clerk of the District Court Broadwell a complaint charg ing Boston Green with habitual drunken ness, which brings the veteran police court Character under the provisions - of the re cently enacted dipsomaniac law. Thursday afternoon Boston Green said he wished he might be sent to some In stitution, as anything would be better than spending his nights and part of his days in a hard cell at the city jail. Green has been arrested by the local police one or more times a Week for the last twenty-two years, and the chances are now he will not be seen around his old haunts for some time to come. He Is nearly 65 years of age, according to the best calculations of historians. CARLOAD OF STONE STOLEN Street Paring Material Belonging; to John ' Grant Is Politely Hanled Away. Stone a whole carload of lt-rwas stolen from John Grant, the paving contractor, Wednesday and with the present stringent condition of the stone market he Is any thing but happy. The stone was crushed and with several other carloads had been dumped on California street, between Six teenth and Seventeenth, In anticipation of the Seventeenth street paving for which Mr. Grant's Arm has a contract. Progress of the paving on Capitol avenue caused the man who formerly watched the stone to be transferred and the crushed rock was left unguarded. During the day men and wagons descended and carted away' the precious stuff. Grant has no clew. He Is more angry with the nerve of the thieves than the actual loss. MOVE TO SELL PARKS OFF Scheme of Getting; Boulevards and Other Resorts Is Dropped for Present. "The leaders In the movement to sell Fontanelle and Elm wood parks and apply the money for the construction of boule vards and laying out neighborhood parks have dropped the scheme for the present," said Sam Rothwell of the Clifton Hill Improvement club. "Tha proposition has stirred up a good deal 'of opposition, but the people who want to see the north-end boulevards and small parks put In are not discouraged. About midnight Wednesday Officer Morri son found Henry Rue lying on the pave ment at Thirteenth and Howard streets, in an unconscious condition and with an ugly scalp wound. The scalp wound was three inches long and was Inflicted when the man struck his head on the curbing. In a manner, however, he Is unable to explain. Rue is a porter in a saloon. After spending the night at the police station he waa able to proceed to his home unattended. Men Wanted In Wayne.
