lice Judge Iicrka.
The prisoner was charged with vagrancy
and disorderly conduct and when arraigned
in police court said he was drunk at the
time of tho Intrusion on the young women.
The tent that Mason entered was occu
pied by Mlaa UUU Youngquiet, sister and
mother. The sisters were asleep In one
bed and the mother In another. Miss
IJllte YoungnulKt testified against Mason,
faying: ,
"At 4:30 this morning I was awakened by
the smell of chloroform. I saw that man
(pointing to Mason) bending over me with
a sponge over my mouth. I called to my
sister ,and we both screamed. The man
tritd to get into bed with us, but when
we gave the alarm he became frightened
and rati away.".
Miss Youngqulat's sister corroborated this
testimony.

The rest of the story Is that when the
sisters gave the alarm a number of men
gave chase to Mason, G. P. Iy of 2wj
Maple street Anally catching Mm. Officers
Ryan and Byrne soon were on the scene
and took Mason Into custody.
When searched at the police station the
prisoner had a large knife, two bottles
of chloroform and a note book showing
the location of the Youngqulst tent.
