ceipt!. For the flrat str months of 1904 Omaha
received 4.3,0OO bushels of corn, Peoria

flrat six montha of 195 Oniaha received
9W7,(M bushels of corn, going ahead of

In summing up the condition of Omaha's
train market for the first six months of
tho year the monthly report of the govern
ment bureau of statistics has the following

reached a total of 1, biiBhels, and

corresponding movement In 1304, due prin

ment of corn, which amounted during the
month to l.wa.OOO bushels. Shipments of
grain during June totaled l,71B,uut bushels,
m against l.iaO.uuu bushels for a like month
in 1904.
"Total grain receipts at these cities dur
ing the first half of the current year ag
gregated 13,997,500 bushels, and consisted of
l.lai.OuO bushels of wheat, 9,967, CU bushels
of corn, 2,824.(00 bushels of oats. 53,000 bush
els of rye and 43.OU0 bushels of barley. A.
similar corresponding movement In 194
amounted to 6,400.706 bushels, the great Im
provement shown In the present year's re
ceipts being largely due to the Increase of
corn arrivals, although wheat, oats and
barley were received In much heavier
quantities. Shipments of grain from
Omaha during the first six months of the

were more than double a corresponding

output was abnormally heavy, amounting
to 10,445,000 bushels." .

Minnie Arndt. arrested Sunday afternoon
by Detectives Mitchell and Pavis on a
charge of grand larceny, will not be prose
cuted on" that or any other charge. Her
physical condition Is said to be such as to
demand Immediate attention. The girl, who
la but 20 years of age, will be sent to the
Home of the Good Phrpherd. where she
will receive both medical and spiritual at
tention. Miss Arndt made a complete confession
of her recent life In the m.uion s depart
ment at the city J.ill.
"I Just .did It nil, and thnt is all there
Is to It." said the girl. "I wnnted some
nice things and took them when the op
portunity offered Itself. I was receiving
13.60 per week as a domestic. My first
false step occurred three months ago when
I became engaged to a man whose name I
do not now recall. I met this man at the
home of a friend at Hennlngton. After
two weeks' acquaintance we were engaged
to be married. The man spent $75 on my
self and the bridesmaid, buying us nice
dresses and an engagement ring. On the
evening before the day sot for my marriage
I and tho bridesmaid skipped out. The
other girl la now In Denver.
"I have not been home for a year and
have worked around town at many places
so msny I cannot remember them all."
MIhs Arndt ssys she remembers taking
things from three places, hut will not con
fess to more than three, although de
tectives say they know there are many
more than three places where the girl has
pilfered articles ot various values.
Valuable Diamond Ring.
The most valuable article taken by Miss
Arndt was a diamond ring valued at t2X)
and stolen from the home of M. J. Carmen,
1(31 South Thirty-first street, where the
girl worked as a domestic. As the ring was
found on the girl at the time of her ar
rest at Twentieth and Irfavenworth streets,
Mr. Carmen Is not Inclined to prosecute.
As for the other articles said to have
been stolen by the girl, her father has ex
pressed a willingness to reimburse those
who have been robbed.
The three reports made to the police
ot the girl's thefts came from M. J. Car
men, loai Bouth Thirty-first street; Mrs.
A. Haften, 65 South Nineteenth Street, and
Miss Tina Stechcr, 1 1 IS Wlllium street. An
opal ring stolen from the Hagen residence
was found on one of the girl's fingers when
arrested. The other articles stolen con
sisted of dresses, skirts, umbrellas and
other articles. At the time of the report
of these thefts the description ot th
party suspected corresponded In each in
stance with that of Miss Arndt. She maa
aged to evade the authorities for three
weeks.
Miss Arndt waa known also as Miss
Minnie Hevtlcek. She is 20 years of age
and Is quite a good-looking girl.
Before entraining at Kansas City he waa
assaulted nnd robbed. $50 being taken from
him by two men who then put one of his
legs out of service. On the train to Omaha
Noftslnger made the acquaintance of a
stranger who, on account of the Rockvllle
cripple's condition, offered to carry his
grips from the station to a hotel. Noft
slnger could not keep up with the
stranger's paecs, the result of which was
the stranger got out of range with
Noftslnger's effects. Now Noftsinger Is
without money or grips, and is nursing a
crippled limb.
