hair-raising order the Pueblo Indians de
feated Sioux City, making It three out of
lour of tha present series. In tha Ami
fame Miner held the visitor without glv
ng a hit for tha flrst six innings. In the
seventh they secured a scratch hit, but
were unable to score. The loeals started
the run-getting In the flrst. Blake drew a
walk, waa sacrificed to second by Cook
and scored on Kim bo's two-bagger. In tha
second Bonnver went to flrst on Carney's
error, stole second and scored on Miner's
double. The Indians cinched the gums In
the third, Blake sent a three-bagger over
left. Cook weut down, Knabe sent a Texas
4eaguer tnrrr shortstop, was advanced to
second by Delehanty'a hit to left. Elwert
struck out and Mott drew a walk, filling
tha bases, and Schrlver' single scored
Knabe and Delehanty.
Delehanty started things In the fifth
with a Single over second. Elwert went
out on a short fly to Newton and Mott
fanned. With two gone, Schrlver walked
and Bader lined out a double, scoring llo
hanty: Blake went out, Bheehan to Car
ney; Cook sent a drive to right and atopped
on miru. tie scored on tvnaoe s single,
Ietchanty went down on a pop-up to 8hee
ban. Elwert made first on a hot one, an
error and Knabe. crossed the rubber.

Schrlver scoring on Miner's fly.
Owing to the fact that Sioux City had to
take the train, the second gama only went
seven innings. However, this was time
enough for the locals to gather In fourteen
hits and eleven runs. The visitors did bet
ter stick work In this contest, getting
eleven hits and eight runs. Attendance,

Omaha' will wind up Its long series with
De Moines this afternoon and will be at
home tomorrow for a four-game turn at
St. Joseph. The game this afternoon is
a most Important one for both Omaha and
Des Moines. If Omaha wins It. It will
give th champions six out of ten, and will
make the season's series to date stand
12 to 11 In favor of Omaha. If It goes to
Des Moines. It makes an even break on
the series of ten, but gives the leaders one
to the good on the season's work. There
Is one postponed game on the Omaha
f rounds to be played off. which will very
Ikely do settled August 27, when Im
Moines Is here for a Sunday game. The
tesms have already played more than
their schedule owing to the two tie games.
St. Joe's cnmlng poesn't promise Omaha
much rest, for the Mlmourlans have been,
strengthened since their last appearance
here, and under the direction of Charley
Dexter are playing great ball. Being
tied With Bloux City for third now, the
Champions will have to hustle a bit, for
they don't meet the Sioux again until

DETROIT. July ' 23 Everything Is In
readiness at the Groses Point track for
the opening tomorrow afternoon of the
Detroit Driving club's blue ribbon meeting,
which Inaugurates the grand circuit for
19u0. Indications tonight are that the track
will be In the best of condition and the
number and class of entries for the fifteen
events which make up the Ave days' cards
points to one of the best meetings In the
history of the track. All races will be on
the three-heat plan this year, making nine
heats for each day. The feature event of
the opening day 1 the Cnamber of Com
merce stake of to.OuO for 1:24 class pacers.
Grand Island Team Strengthened.
GRAND ISLAND, Neb.. July 23 (Spe
cial.) The Grand Island base ball team has
had considerable 111 luck. Balrd, the cen
ter fielder and one of the leading batsmen
of the team, having sprained an ankle;
Welsh, the pitcher, having accidentally
been spiked In the aame game; Schaf stall
having his hand crippled In the first gahte,
last week, at Hastings, Manager Slevers,
however, has secured Ritsman, a - likely
southpaw artist from the eastern part of
the state, who struck out ten men In the
second Hastings game, and expects another
player from South Dakota on any train.
