"Water rights covorlng 120,009 acres have
been adjudicated by the supreme court of
Nebraska In favor of the company, and
the right to SO.000 acres furnished by water
at the rate of 1.142 cubic feet per second
dates back to September, 1AS7. The country
Js being tested for sugar beets under Ir
rigation, 1.000 rcres being grown this year,
which will be shipped to Leavltt, Neb., to
be made Into sugar.
"Twenty miles of canal have been com
pleted from the state line east and twenty
additional miles will be constructed this
year, requiring the removal of 1,000,000
yards of earth. The whole work con
templated required the removal of 8,000,000
yards. The right to water and additional
land amounting to 128,000 acres In Wyom
ing and Nebraska and lying above the
route of the Farmers' and Columbus
canals Is In controversy between the Trl
state Land company and the government.

ber I, 1904, and the government made no
move toward acquiring It until six weeks
later.

part from the work being done by the
government or contemplated by ttie gov
ernment, being planned and worked out
by individuals. The men back of this en
terprise realize that the development of
that portion of the state Is of immense
benefit to Omaha,"
