10 "TITE DM ATT A' DAILY BEE: WEDNESDAY, MAHCIT 13. 1903. STEWART BROS. COMING OYER ! Wholewle Grocer Will Eemore Council Elnfls to Omaha. from ALLEN BROS. OLD STAND IN COMMISSION Old BUMIihd Firm SeeUe Field that GUti It Ort las for Trade la lie Own I. In. Stewart Bros., wholesale grocer at 24 and 2 South Main street. Council Bluffs, are about to remove their business from that city and come to Omaha. They have completed the lease of that aection of the Ames estate building on Jonea street, be tween Ninth and Tenth, which Is next to the Kingman Implement company estab lishment. The firm will open up for busi ness on this side of the river about May 1. For about a year there have been ru mors that the Council Bluffs grocers would come to Omaha and entnbllsh their busl ness here. At that time the Kountzee be came Interested In the firm and Ben Cot ton became a partner. The Stewart house has been In business In Council Bluffs for about thirty years and hue always been a conservative firm, enjoying a good business. It haa been handicapped by Its location from the fact that Council Bluffs does not offer a real grocery narket. Retailers from western Iowa and from Nebraska who come to the Omaha market, where they have several large grocery Jobbing houses to make a complete market, would not cross the river to Inspect the house there. For this reason, It Is understood, the Stewarts have finally decided to bring their business to Nebraska soil. The new grocery house will have the building formerly used by Allen Bros. The building has been reconstructed and the work has been completed but recently. It la now thoroughly-up-to-date, with eleo trlo elevators and other convenlenoea and accessories, which will make It satisfac tory quartera for a grocery house. The Stewarts will have a frontage of forty four feet on Jones street and will occupy the entire five floors of the building. It is understood also Mr. Dick Stewart will build a handsome residence on the fine piece of ground next to the residence of Luther Kountte at Thirty-ninth and Dewey avenue. A Machine for Women should be the best obtainable. The Singer sewing machine la acknowledged the light est running, most durable and convenient of any.
