ALIEN BILL MUST BE PASSED
Such la Opinion of People Who
Talk In London East
End.
LONDON, March 4.-(8peclal Cablegrarts
to The Bee.) "Wo must have an alien bill
as soon as possible. The East End demands
It," said Hon. Rupert Oulnness this week,
and a great East End audience gathered at
the Baths loudly cheered the declaration.
Jn the East End Englishmen had ben
driven from their homes ana deprived of
their work by the Influx of aliens, he con
tinued. It was not alone the pauper and
the criminal aliens who had dona this, and
to deal with this matter there must be a
really strong sllen bill going Into every
ramification of tho question."
Major Evans Gordon followed on the
same lines and moved resolution calling
upon the government to pass the alien bill,
The dean of Norwich, who seconded the
resolution, aroused the enthusiasm of the
meeting to a high pitch with a vigorous
speech. Having remarked that he, as gt
minister of religion, was not affected by
alien labor In his profession, Dean Lefroy
proceeded: "But I say that, as a minister
of religion, I nm in my right place in rais
ing my voice against the degradation of
the homes of English workingmen. I am
In my right place In protesting against their
honorable labor being destroyed by the In
tolerable exigencies and avarlrlousness of
sweaters. I am In my right place when I
claim fur those who are born In this coun
try a pilorlty of right to the labor that the
country affords. We will make It known
to England that whatever Ue government
dors or does not do, It shall deal wltb tMa
