leader of the Independent party ln tha
Hunivrlan Parliament, was reoelvd thla

cussed with his majesty the political alt
uatlon and cavinct crisis In Hungary aris
ing from the coalition of the various minor
partlea ln Hungary with the Independent
party and the sweeping victory at tha
polls on January 26, which has re
sulted In the united opposition parties:
being placed In control of the lower house
of the Hungarian Parliament.
Hen Kossuth has declared that It la Im
possible now to govern Hungary without
the help of this united party or against
Its wishes. Herr Kossuth was with his
majesty nearly an hour and .was treated
with great distinction. He expressed fully
his views and his party's views. The em
peror listened attentlvelybut did not make
any reply affecting the situation. If Kos
suth stands fat for his party's program
his position Is a strong one, and It Is be
lieved that ho will do so. The solution of
the present situation may be delayed, but
It Is hoped that the emperor's approaching
visit to Buda Pest, wher he will confer
with other Hungarian leaders, will do
much to help And the solution.
Herr Koasuth returned to Buda Pest
this afternoon. While he was loudly
cheered going to and from the Hofburg by
some hundreds of adherents he had to dls
sunde his followers from making any
boisterous demonstrations. His quiet de
meanor created a favorable Impression. II
declined to reveal anything the emperor
said In the course of the audience, but de
clared himself deeply moved and charmed
by the emperor's gracious amiability, add
ing that the emperor showed himself well

A meeting of special Interest was held
by Bnson camp of Modern Woodmen last
Tuesday everting, when three candidates
were initiated. The foresters of camp 210
of Omaha and the officers of that camp
were present to put on th work. After
this ceremony and the regular business
program, a splendid supper was served,
followed by a smoker. Speeches hy the
visiting district deputy. C. H. T. Rlepen of
Omaha and others wer much enjoyed.

John Christensen and John Noble.
