CATTLE There was n big run of cattle
in sight tills inornlnar. Chlraa-o havlna 30.-
000 iHiid. Kansas Clly 16,000 head and 6oulli
Omnhn fl,) head. Packer were naturally
bearish und at most point price ranged
from ateady to a dime lower. That was
the situation at this market on I lost kinds.
No well finished cornfed steer arrived
here thl morning, but there were everal
load of warmed up and short fed tuff
for which the demand wna not very brisk.
The big slump In Chicago last week, of
course mude buyers here more bearish, as
they felt that tlili market wa entirely
too high ns compared with Chicago, and
ns a result they took off lfl15e in a good
many case. It wa an uneven market,
though, so that aome bunches suffered
more than other. Packer seemed to
prefer the better grades of westerns to
warmed up cornfed at prevailing prices,
fo thnt the latter have been going down
hill ut a rapid rate for the past ten day.
'There waa a big run of wetern range
4Wf etoera, and owing to the unfavorable
rej orta from other point, the market was
11 little slow. The better glades sc'l
about steady and as high a 14.10 was pnM
for some pretty good csttle. The general
run of westerns, though, were weak to u
dime lower, nnd it wua rather lute before
the bulk of the arrivals was disposed of.
Receipt included about 100 ear of west
ern cows. nd while some of the buyer
tried to get their supplies for less money,
the demand wa sufficient to hold the gen
eral market just about steady. Trading
was fairly active and the bulk was dis
posed of in good season. As high as 13.15
waa paid for a good bunch. Quite a few
cornfed are allowing un In Ihe receipt,
hut unless they are good they sell no bet
ter than the western.
Hulls, veal calve and stags sold at nearly
stead:' prices.
A cood many stockers and feeders were
on sale, but the demand was quite brisk
and anything al nil desirable changed
hand without 11 great deal of trouble at
about ateady price. The commoner kind,
though, were rather slow and
a little
lower. Representative sales:
