Yesterday a not only circus ey at
Twentieth .and Paul streets, but It also
" Was show day on the Vinton street base
. kail park, where Ia's menagerie broke
Into the tin and stirred up the sawdust
' find made a fine showing, both' In the field
' and at bat. Pfeister and the rent of the
Joenl acrobats kept the Colorado contortion
11 down ,'td three, hits, while Manager
Xtourka't performers scored eight, hits and
even runs. ' 1 '
' Colorado, Springs' did a little better than
Miien here the last time, for then Pa took
' the straight five games; this time 'he al
lowed Ryan to have one out of four.
Jack Pfelsler simply was too much for
the Colorado . crowd. ' Three skinny hits
was aH ha would let out. Pfeister cajne
ftinr being the whole thing with such su
rb pitching and a home run.
Ifelster and Dolan were the star per
formers, of the day, each putting the ball
over the. left field fence. In both cases
Kyan made a Jump to the clouds for the
ball, but came down empty-handed. When
J'felxter made his big stunt In the third
there waa no one on bases,- but Dolan's
)iom run brought In Welch and put the
Omaha, team one- to the good. Pfeister
received a sack of peanuts from some fair
nd. white Dolan was handed a glass of
red lemonade.
, In the eighth Inning Ringmaster Kelly
And .Manager ftourko had all rings going
nt once. . Nick Carter, the first man up,
walked to first and Howard followed by
going to second oft Villeman's error, throw.
Ing wild to first.. Harry Welch then pranced
Into the arena and sent out a hit on which
Carter and Howard scored. Then the band
flayed "1 got my eyes on you," after, which
Ylllernan. hit Dolan' with the ball. Dolan
walked to first -and Thomas sacrificed for
Dolan's sake, knowing; he had just been
s.mck by the, ball and wanted to get to
Kwond. Then Bchlpke made a fine three
base hit that brought in Welch and Dolnn.
13 tit speaking of circus, and hippodrome
acts, Bchlpke ran .those three banes like
a suburban resident 'trying to catch the
last car,.' .And while 6chip was running thti
little boy on the center field fence yelled,
That'll the boy, Schlp; you are the boy
w ho stole the lunch. rt As a matter of fact
v the little boy thought Schlpke was the boy
who stole Pa. Rourka'a lunch, but It was
not Bchlpke. .
In the first foul, and the last innings
the Millionaires, went- down lit one-two-t
.lecoroer.i In 'the 'fifth they .did break
through the. , canvas ,4nd were noticed fo,
a spell on the base ball stage, but their
lights ' went oiit and thoy were sidetracked
tet some' way' statloii-Their success in the
fifth Inning was at -'least partially due to
an error made by, Dolan, who; however,
retrieved hJmseir later in the game with
it home run. ., .'
The fielding of the 6maha players was
generally splendldi Schlpke's assist in the
second being of the cyclonic' order. Dolan
' twado' a 'pretty assist In, the second when
Howard .turned, a somersault over a balj
tatted oit by Thontpn. Howard tried for
the bail,, buj misjudged and yl'L a little

DRIVER HERB FOR FIVE GAMES
Leaders of WhIhi Leagne Bea-la
' Series Today.
Having taken a good bit of native egotism
and incidentally three out of fmir games
from Colorado Springs, Omaha today opens

with Denver, for Chrvaha had made It a
sort of one-sided h flair with Colorado

games played on the home ground?. The

winds up the Denver sertea, "ladies' day."
