City. The line will open up a new agri

the line has already been done. Money Is
.being put Into the country In tie way of
building Irrigating ditches an. canals,
which ate to become part of a large sys
tem that will open up a new and promising
country. The rood will traverse abou. 200
i miles of Irrigated land and much of this
Shoo already been taken up by settlers.

The Rock Island road Tuesday announced
a cut on sugar to 10 cents per 100 pounds
from Chicago and 6 cents from St. Louis.
This action brought such a storm of pro
tests that the compuny admitted that It
was a "mistake" and the new tariff on the
sweat stuff was immediately recalled.
