street, one of a party of young people held
up near the entrance of RJvervlew park
last Friday night, called at the polio, sta
tion tind Identified Roy Caasar, Ed Calla
han and Ed Bird as the men who held up
the m irry party of picnickers and took va
rious iimount. besides a diamond stud. Mr.
Harmon gives the following version of the
robbery :
"Abo it eleven of us, part of a picnic
party, were filing along the road just out
side of the park, when three men Jumped
out of a hedge and stopped us. I was lead
ing our crowd and the tall man approached
me first and placed a revolver so close to
me that It actually touched my noe. I
at first thought ths strangsrs were joking,
put soon found It was anything but a joke.
One of the robbers went to th. othitr end
of the line, one kept my nose cool with his
gun, while the third man went through
the crowd and at the point of his wecpon
made us all dig up. They got various
amounts of money, just how much I could
not aay. I know they got 360 and a dia
mond stud from ons, several dollars from
me, and I understand ons of th. young
men had- 336, hi. month a salary. In his
pocket at the time, but he is noncommittal
on the matter. They took two rings from
one of the young women, but returned
them when she begged, saying they had
been given her by her dead mother. After
the men had gone through us they kindly
returned II for street oar fare." '

In conformity with a time-honored cus
tom Police Judge Berka spoke the words
that meant the release of some thirty pris
oners la police court yesterday morning.
It
he law-breakers . were sent their ways
without the payment of fines. The Sat
urday and Sunday accumulation of drunks,
vagrants and other minor offenders were
arraigned in bunches of threes and fours
and almost to a man they pleaded guilty,
Moat ot them left t court room with, a
smile. , and a few a very few with a
"thank you" on their lips. The more se
rious cases were held over to this morn
ing. "Boston Green" spent the natal day In
jail and was the self-appointed speaker
of the day at th city jail. Boston 1
nothing if not patriotic and his flights of
oratory, culoglstlo of the stars and stripe
and the bird of freedom could have been
heard for blocks around the police station.
Ths police court room was tastily decora
ted with flags and streamers.
