CATTLE There waa a more liberal run
ot cattle hero today than yesterday, but
still receipts were not at all excessive.
Other markets were ouoted about steady.
and 11 the local demand wua in good shape
tiaaing ruiea very active witn prices uteauy
to strung. The same as yesterday every
thing waa out of first hands at an early
hour.
The market on beef steer could be Quoted
active and steady to strong. Some sales
of the more desirable grades, in fact, looked
a little higher. Buyers all had Ub-al or
ders to nil and as there were scarcely
enough In s:ght to meet the requirements
of the trade the market wns very active.
As high as $556 wus paid for some white-
faces, which was the top of the day v.nd
also for the year to date. There were quite
a few rood cattle on sale, a will be seen
from the sales below. The market was !n
very satisfactory condition to the selling
interests and shippers were well pleaded
tilth the prices received.
The cow market waa also active and
steady to strong. There were compara
tively few Included In the receipts and with
a liberal demand from all sources it only
took a short time for everything In sight
to change hands. Borne Whlteface heifers
sold as high as $4.86, or 45c higher than
some from the same bunch brought laat
Wednesday. The only kind of butcher
stock that was not In active demand wa
common cutters and canners, but still even
those sold to as good advantage as they
did yesterday.
Bulls, veal calves and stags could be
quoted steady to strong.
The same as has been tho case of late
there were very few stock cattle In sight,
but the demand was sufficient to take those
that were offered at good steady pries.

HOGS There was a fairly liberal run of
nogs nere tins morn no- nncl aa other mar

to some extent. Trailing was rather slow
all day and It vaj Into before a clearance
was mode. The decline would be fully cov
ered by quoting the r.nirket mostly a nickel
lower. Home sales were made that wero
not over 34c lower, but the general market
was right close to 5c lower than yesterday's
average. The bulk of the hogs went from
$4 474 to $4,524, with prime louds going
from 4.o5 to w.ni. rhe common and 1 k it
stuff sold from $4. 45 down.
There was no great amount of change In
the market from start 10 finish, -hough
there were some strong and some weak
spots. Everything waa disposed of before
noon and sales went all the way from
4c to 6c lower. Representative sales
