For the week receipts show but a slight Increase over last week, but a gain of nearly 8,ou0 head as. compared with the same woek of last year. Ihe table above will show the exact 11 an res. Beef steers have made up the big bulk of the offerings all the week and the quality has been unusually good. That faot of course has helped out the appearance of the market on paper and should be taken Into consideration In quoting the ups and downs of the market As a general thing, though, it Is safe to quote an advance of about a dime. Some of the choicer cattle may be as much as 16c higher In extreme cases, while the com moner and half fat kinds are not aa much as a dims blxher In many cases. The mar ket for the week then could best be de scribed by calling it active and generally u aime mgner. uooa to cnoice sieerg ere ? notable from 84 60 to 36.26, fair to good rom 64.15 to 34 50 and the common kinds sell from 84.16 down. Tho suDDly of cow stuff hag not been ex cessive and with a fairly good demand each day'g offerings have met with ready gale. The light weight cowa and helfara have not shown much Improvement, but they have been selling high ror some time past as comnared with other grrados. Heavy cows. It will be remembered, were neglected last week and this week tncy nave shown an advance of fullv a dime. Cahners and cut ters have been very glow sale all the week and are a little lower. Buyers are begin ning to be afraid of grass stock, and It la only natural to expect that aa soon as grnss cows do begin to show up in the receipts that the common to fair cows will suffer a decline. Good to choice cowg and heifers may be quoted from 83.40 to 84.25, fair to gcod from 32.90 to 3.26 and cannerg and cutters from 81.75 to $2.00. There has been a good brisk demand for the better grades of bulls all the week at strong prices. The better grades sell from u 26 To 14. with the commoner kinds from $.1 down. Veal calves have been coming quite freely, but still are selling nearly as crnnd aa the ware a week aao. The best grades sell up to 35.25, hut the bulk of them sell from 84.60 to 35, with common ones from 34.50 down. There has been a Eood Inquiry for gtook ers and feeders this week and the market Is considerably higher on anything at all desirable. The good to oholoe grades now sell from 84 to 34.40, fair to good from 83.75 to 84 and common came irorn w o aown. Representative sales: STEERS AND HEIFERS, No. 11... 3... 1... 1... 1... At. Fr. Light . hogs were glow gale all day and they felt the decline more than the good weights, still that was nothing new as the same thing might be gald of most every day this week. The receipts this week have been the largest for the rear so far, though consid erably short ofhs record.
