downwaid course of prices was checkid.
Duyers seemed to want a few cattle and
started out in fairly good season, und trad
ing was more brink than It has been at any
time this week. The bulk of the offerings
was dli-poaed of In fairly good season.
About the usual proportion of the offer

matkei on the desirable grades was quite
active and strong to a dime higher than
esterdny's general market. The commoner
kinds of course were not particularly brisk.
but still even those sold to a little beiteH

The cow market was more nctlve und, If
anything, the good to choice grades were

day's close. As compared with the early

feeders on pale this morning and the de
mand was sufficient to hold prices generally
steady. Tho demand from the country
yesterday was fairly good, all things con
sidered. It le to be noticed, however, that

the better grades and for that reaeon spec
ulators very seldom buy warmed-up cattle
unless they are of good quality and clean.
