This statement was made at the meeting

mercial club yesterduy and was In reply to
Inquiries set on foot at the Instance of the

flour mill. At the first large meeting of the
club John R. Webster, Nathan Merrlam and
Borne Miller each offered to give $1,000 to a
company of 100, each to give a similar sum.
Mr, Stlckney now puts his name down per
aonally for a share, but fears that It will
be difficult to get enough men to contribute.

Morphy were elected members of the Com'
merclel club. Arrangements were made for
the annual election and a committee con
sisting of Chairman K. 8. Wilcox, Nathan
Maniam, Frank Carpenter, II. K. Burket
and IL J. I'enfold was selected to take
charge of the balloting. The ft ret three of
these were a committee which selected 120
names from which sixty directors will be
chosen.
Wednesday, January 13, from 10 o'clock
tn the morning until I o'clock, ' the new
directors will be voted for. The following
Friday the new directors will meet at
noon and select a president of the club for
1904. a treasurer and twenty-five members
for the executive committee. A Joint meet

for the whole club and the retiring officers
