CHICAGO, Nov. H Decreasing receipts
In the northwest and strength In outslrie
markets caused a firm tone In the whrat
lt today ami December rlosed 4rSc
ile-her. December corn waa riff WttiP, oats
were a shade lower, while provisions were
steady, the January products closing from
i'W'S&c higher.
1 here was a good rommlssln house de
mand and the murket ruled firm aftr
a slightly enster opening. Continued fa
vorable weather In the luce of predictions
to the eontrary' and rather disappointing
tables caused some selling at the start
ana initial sales on IJcremher were un
changed to V,e lower nt it! V" Tii'se. Outslile
markets were all higher, however, and this
fact soon resulted In creating better senti
ment here. December sold up to 77Hc, but
late selling by longs caused a sllgnt re
ceaelun from the high point and the clone
was at 77vi7714c. a gain of ,tfiV'- Clear
ances of wlerat and flour were equal to
4K,6) bushels. Primary receipts were l.lW.
) bushels, against l.lsO.7110 bushels a yeiir
ago, Minneapolis and Dttluth reHirted re
ceipt of 7"4 cars, which, with local re-e-elpt
of 140 cars, none of contract grade,
made total receipts for the three points of
f.'t cars, against J. "TO cars lust week and
1,4.10 cars a year ago.
Corn had to contend with weather condi
tions, which were most favorable for drying
tiut and curing the new crop, and this
feature produced more or less liesrlsh feel
ing. Trading was only moderate with a
good deal of evening up going on.
December ranged between 4. 'Mi1'" 12 Vic. clos
ing ac lower at 44c. Local receipts
were cars, with 9 of contract grade.
Oats ruled steady on a fair demand from
commission houses and shorts. There was
some selling by longs at the aturt, which
caused a little easier feeling, but prices
snort responded to the demand from locals
and closing prices were at about last
night's figures, Iiecember being a shade
lower at M"y?i634. after selling lietween
IS.u33o and 34c. Local receipts were M9
cars.
Provisions were firm, with a good deal
of covering by local shorts In evidence.
Huylng of lard, eredlted to packers, was the
feature. Large shipments of hog products,
with Arm prices at the yards, were
strengthening Influences. January pork
closed io higher st Ill.ti'H, January laid
was 2.c. higher at 18. to. while ribs were up
6c at J6.204itl.22tt. .
Estimated receipts Tor Monday: wneai,
40 cars; corn, 200 cars; oats, KA cars; hogs,
ao.Ono head. .

CATTLE The same as usual on a Satur
day, there were practically no cattle on
safe this morning. For the week receipts
show a slight Increase as compared With
lust week, but compared with the same
week of last year there Is an Increase of
fcbout 6,000 head. The supply, however, has
been large enough io meet tne demand,
r.s Is shown by the fact that noarly all
kinds have suffered quite a sharp decline.
There have been more corn-fed steers on
the market this week than for some time
past, but most of them were of the short-
fed variety. The general market could -be
quoted U6i25c lower than the close of iast
week on all kinds. Some of the common
and warmed-up kinds may br even a l.t-
le worse than that. The ton price of the
ween was oj, wiucn was pant lor a .very
choice bunch of Hereford. The bulk of
the warmed-up rattle sell from 31.00 lo
$4.25. with some below $4.00. Fair to gooi
cattle go from $4.40 to $4.75 and good to
choice from $4.80 to 85.30.
The cow market Improved a little early
In the week, but since thun tho advance
lias an neen lost una more, too. it would
he safe to quote the cow market generally
a dime lower than the close of last week.
The better grades of cows yesterday suf
lereu tne greater decline and In a good
many rases iney naa to sen more thun a
(Time lower than the same kinds would
rave brought the week before. Cinnera srs
going largely from $1.50 to $'.10. fair to go id
grades from 32.15 to $2.40 and good to choice
all the way from $2.40 to $2.90. Occaslona'ly
n extra choice load of grassers will bring
a little more than that and corn-feds have
also sold up to $3.25. but most of the corn
feds are simply warmed up and bring no
more than the grassers.
Bulls and stags -are also lower for-the
week, and In fact are at about the low
point nf the season. Bologna bulls sell
from $1.50 to $1.90. with the better grade
oi grass duhs going iroin 12.00 lo 32.50. Oc
casinnnlly comfed bulls come In good
enough to bring around $.100. Veal calves
have been about stendy all the week, sell
inr rrom ta io to so.nti.
This has been about the most disastrous
week of the year to d:tte In the stoeker and
feeder division. Prices have been going
teadllv downward, and In units of that
fact the detiand from the country has
been very light, and aa a result a good
many cattle will be carried over Sunday.
As compared with Monday, the market ts
fully 1oji20c tower, which make prices the
lowest of the season. It Is noticed that
yearlings and short twos are selling morq
freely than the heavy cattle. Buyers seem
to want cattle weighing from t'-oo to 800
pounds, to rough through the winter, but
tney want good quality sturr. Tne com
moner kinds of stockers and feeders are
now selling from $2.75 to $3.00. fair to good
from 83.00 to $J 40. and good to choice from
$.1.40 to $3.75, with something fancy as high
as $4.00. or even a little better.
The supply of western grat-a beef steers
of good quality has been very light, and, as
the demand lias been in good shape, prices
are firm on mat cinss oi onermgs. torn-
inon stuff has been more or less neglected
the same as usual. Range rows and
stockers and feeders have fluctuated tha
as me as noted above.
HOGS There was not an excessive run
here this morning and. as the demand wus
In fairly good shape, the market improved
a trifle. The general market could be
ouoted strong to 6c higher. Some salei
looked no more man sieaay, wnne oiners
were safely u nickel higher.. Trading was
fairly active, so thut the early arrival
were all disposed of in good season. Heuv
hogs sold from $4 50 to $4 55, medium
weights went from $4.55 to $4.60. and light
so d from 14. W to if. iu. 'i nere were n
choice Hahts on sale this morning, whlc
Is the reason why there Is not a better
ton to the market.
For the week recelDts have neen Quit
liberal, there being a gain of about 10.UOO
head, as compared with lust week, and of
bout 2.ouo bead, as - compared witu in
same week of last year. The tendency c
nrices has been steadily downward, wni
has carried prices to the low point of tii
vear to d:ite. The net loss for the wee!
amounts to fully 20c. representative sates
