Corn had to contend with weather condi
tions, which were most favorable for drying
tiut and curing the new crop, and this
feature produced more or less liesrlsh feel
ing. Trading was only moderate with a
good deal of evening up going on.

were cars, with 9 of contract grade.
Oats ruled steady on a fair demand from
commission houses and shorts. There was
some selling by longs at the aturt, which

Provisions were firm, with a good deal

plentiful in the market today nnd the de
mand was moderate. Discounts were
steady, the withdrawals of gold for Egypt
being offset by 2.500.000 leaving Bombay
today. Prices on the Stock exchange were
firmer, but trading was listless. Consols
hardened and home rails were steadv.
Americana opened at a fractional advance
on bear covering, and business was nominal
ana irregular, with prices mostly below
parity. They closed quiet. Grand Trunk
was firm 011 expectation of better tralllc
returns next week.
PARIS, Nov. 14 Prices on the Bourse
today opened firm, then business became
dull ahd irregular and the market closed
calm. The private rate of discount was
2 15-16 per cent. Three per. cent rentes,
98 francs 22H centimes for the account.

market opened easy, 7 points lower to 6
points higher, the gain being confined to
August, while nil the active months were
lower under disappointing cables, better
weather than predicted, the outlook for
large receipts and week-end realising. Fol

but comparatively narrow. At first the de
clining tendency was checked by the exe
cution of overnight buying orders and mod
erate bull support, but a little later the
market yielded to Wall street pressure-find
room selling, declining to a net. loss of

ing was moderately active. Receipts at
the ports today were bales, against
65.631 last week and 82,007 last year; for the
week. 430,000, against 431,078-last week and

CATTLE The same as usual on a Satur
day, there were practically no cattle on
safe this morning. For the week receipts
show a slight Increase as compared With
lust week, but compared with the same
week of last year there Is an Increase of
fcbout 6,000 head. The supply, however, has
been large enough io meet tne demand,
r.s Is shown by the fact that noarly all
kinds have suffered quite a sharp decline.
There have been more corn-fed steers on
the market this week than for some time
past, but most of them were of the short-
fed variety. The general market could -be
quoted U6i25c lower than the close of iast
week on all kinds. Some of the common
and warmed-up kinds may br even a l.t-
le worse than that. The ton price of the
ween was oj, wiucn was pant lor a .very
choice bunch of Hereford. The bulk of
the warmed-up rattle sell from 31.00 lo
$4.25. with some below $4.00. Fair to gooi
cattle go from $4.40 to $4.75 and good to
choice from $4.80 to 85.30.
The cow market Improved a little early

feds are simply warmed up and bring no
more than the grassers.
Bulls and stags -are also lower for-the
week, and In fact are at about the low
point nf the season. Bologna bulls sell
from $1.50 to $1.90. with the better grade
oi grass duhs going iroin 12.00 lo 32.50. Oc
casinnnlly comfed bulls come In good
enough to bring around $.100. Veal calves
have been about stendy all the week, sell

This has been about the most disastrous
week of the year to d:tte In the stoeker and
feeder division. Prices have been going
teadllv downward, and In units of that
fact the detiand from the country has
been very light, and aa a result a good
many cattle will be carried over Sunday.
As compared with Monday, the market ts
fully 1oji20c tower, which make prices the
lowest of the season. It Is noticed that
yearlings and short twos are selling morq
freely than the heavy cattle. Buyers seem
to want cattle weighing from t'-oo to 800
pounds, to rough through the winter, but
tney want good quality sturr. Tne com
moner kinds of stockers and feeders are
now selling from $2.75 to $3.00. fair to good
from 83.00 to $J 40. and good to choice from
$.1.40 to $3.75, with something fancy as high
as $4.00. or even a little better.
The supply of western grat-a beef steers
of good quality has been very light, and, as
the demand lias been in good shape, prices
are firm on mat cinss oi onermgs. torn-
inon stuff has been more or less neglected
the same as usual. Range rows and
stockers and feeders have fluctuated tha
as me as noted above.
HOGS There was not an excessive run
here this morning and. as the demand wus
In fairly good shape, the market improved
a trifle. The general market could be
