Arthur C. Putnam of Chadron, Dawes
county. Neb., has brought suit against the
Mutual eRserve Life Fund Association of
New York In the United States circuit court
for $7,460 damages and interest from' Feb
ruary 1, 1SSS. and costs of action. The suit
Is transferred from the district court of
L'awes county and the petition states that
the plaintiff was Insured In the defendant
company for the sum of $3,000, and that
upon his protesting ngnlnst the payment of
excessive assessments his policy was can
celled by the company. The plaintiff had
been Insured In said defendant company
and paid all the premiums or mortuary' as
sessments required by his original contract
with the company. In making the assess
ment on February 1, 1S98. the defendant did
not make the assessment equal or ratably
