ORDER FRONT FIRE ESCAPES
Officials, After Iapecttoa of Nash

for Safety Necessary. .
As a result Of the Midland Paint and
Olass company fire,' fire escape will be or
dered placed on the front of the E. W.
Nash building at ,1608-16 Harney street.
Deputy Labor Commissioner-' Busch, Fire
Chief Salter and Building Inspector With-
neli have conferred, about the matter and
have decided that a front escape la Im
perative. The building Is five stories high,
not of fireproof construction and' while
equipped with escapes on' the rear these
are not considered sufficient,
That front escape should be provided was
shown during the fire, when one man was
compelled to make a dangerous leap to tha
roof of the Senilis building and another
was rescued through a window py firemen
with ladders. It Is not thought the owner
of the building will otipoa.. the installation .
